¹² and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.^(A)

³² Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death,^(A) they not only continue to do these very things but also approve^(B) of those who practice them.

⁸ But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil,^(A) there will be wrath and anger.^(B)

⁷ The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God;^(A) it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. ⁸ Those who are in the realm of the flesh^(B) cannot please God.

⁴ For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about^[a] long ago have secretly slipped in among you.^(A) They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.^(B)

⁵ Though you already know all this,^(C) I want to remind you^(D) that the Lord^[b] at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.^(E)

¹³ They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight.^(A) They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.^{[a](B) 14} With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce^(C) the unstable;^(D) they are experts in greed^(E)—an accursed brood!^{(F) 15} They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam^(G) son of Bezer,^[b] who loved the wages of wickedness.

⁹ For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath^(A) but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.^(B)

Love in Action

⁹ Love must be sincere.^(A) Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.^(B)

³⁶ Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life,^(A) but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
