Omul fărădelegii
2 În ce priveşte venirea Domnului nostru Isus Cristos şi întâlnirea noastră cu El, vă cerem, fraţilor, 2 să nu vă lăsaţi clătinaţi sau tulburaţi aşa de repede în mintea voastră de vreun duh sau de vreo afirmaţie sau de vreo scrisoare ca venind din partea noastră, care spune că ziua Domnului a şi venit. 3 Nimeni să nu vă înşele în nici un fel, pentru că acea zi nu va veni înainte să vină apostazia[a] şi înainte să fie descoperit omul fărădelegii[b], fiul distrugerii, 4 cel care se opune şi se înalţă pe sine deasupra oricărui aşa-zis dumnezeu sau obiect al închinării. El se va aşeza în Templul lui Dumnezeu, declarându-se pe sine însuşi Dumnezeu[c]. 5 Nu vă amintiţi că v-am spus aceste lucruri când eram cu voi? 6 Voi ştiţi ce-l împiedică să fie descoperit acum, înainte de vremea lui. 7 Căci taina fărădelegii lucrează deja; trebuie doar ca cel care-l împiedică acum să fie dat la o parte. 8 Şi atunci va fi descoperit cel fără de lege, pe care Domnul Isus îl va omorî cu suflarea gurii Sale şi-l va distruge când Se va arăta la venirea Sa. 9 Venirea celui fără de lege va fi în conformitate cu lucrarea lui Satan[d], cu tot felul de puteri, semne şi miracole mincinoase 10 şi cu orice fel de înşelăciune a fărădelegii pentru cei ce pier, având în vedere că n-au primit dragostea adevărului ca să fie mântuiţi. 11 De aceea Dumnezeu le trimite o lucrare de rătăcire, pentru ca ei să creadă minciuna, 12 aşa încât toţi cei care n-au crezut adevărul, ci şi-au găsit plăcerea în nedreptate, să fie condamnaţi.
Rămâneţi fermi!
13 Însă noi Îi mulţumim întotdeauna lui Dumnezeu pentru voi, fraţi iubiţi de Domnul, pentru că Dumnezeu v-a ales ca prim rod pentru mântuire[e], prin lucrarea de sfinţire a Duhului şi prin credinţa în adevăr. 14 La aceasta v-a chemat El prin Evanghelia pe care v-am vestit-o, astfel încât să aveţi parte de slava Domnului nostru Isus Cristos. 15 Aşadar, fraţilor, rămâneţi fermi şi păstraţi tradiţiile în care aţi fost învăţaţi, fie prin cuvânt, fie prin scrisoarea noastră. 16 Însuşi Domnul nostru Isus Cristos şi Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, Care ne-a iubit şi Care ne-a dat, prin harul Său, o încurajare veşnică şi o nădejde bună, 17 să vă încurajeze inimile şi să vă întărească în orice faptă şi cuvânt bun!

Manifestación del hombre de pecado
2 Hermanos, con respecto a la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y nuestra reunión con él,(A) les rogamos 2 que no cambien fácilmente de manera de pensar. No se dejen asustar por nadie, ni siquiera por un espíritu, una palabra, o una carta que pretenda aparecer como nuestra, en el sentido de que el día del Señor está cerca. 3 De ninguna manera se dejen engañar. Porque ese día no vendrá sin que antes venga la apostasía, y se manifieste el hombre de pecado, es decir, el hijo de perdición, 4 el cual se opone y se enfrenta a todo lo que se llama Dios o es objeto de culto.(B) Llega al grado de sentarse en el templo de Dios y de ocupar su lugar, haciéndose pasar por Dios. 5 ¿No se acuerdan de que, cuando yo estaba todavía con ustedes, les advertía esto? 6 Y ahora ustedes saben bien qué es lo que lo detiene, a fin de que a su debido tiempo se manifieste. 7 Porque el misterio de la iniquidad ya está en acción, sólo que en este momento hay quien lo detiene, hasta que él a su vez sea quitado de en medio. 8 Entonces se manifestará ese malvado, a quien el Señor matará con el espíritu de su boca(C) y destruirá con el resplandor de su venida. 9 La llegada de este malvado, que es obra de Satanás, vendrá acompañada de gran poder y de señales y prodigios engañosos,(D) 10 y con toda falsedad e iniquidad para los que se pierden, por no haber querido recibir el amor de la verdad para ser salvados. 11 Por eso Dios les envía un poder engañoso, para que crean a la mentira, 12 a fin de que sean condenados todos los que, lejos de creer a la verdad, se deleitaron en la injusticia.
Escogidos para salvación
13 Pero nosotros siempre debemos dar gracias a Dios por ustedes, hermanos amados por el Señor, de que desde el principio Dios los haya escogido para salvación, mediante la santificación por el Espíritu y la fe en la verdad. 14 A esto los llamó por medio de nuestro evangelio, para que alcanzaran la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. 15 Por lo tanto, hermanos, manténganse firmes y retengan la doctrina que personalmente y por carta les hemos enseñado.
16 Que nuestro Señor Jesucristo mismo, y nuestro Dios y Padre, que nos amó y nos dio consuelo eterno y buena esperanza por gracia, 17 les infunda ánimo en el corazón y los confirme en toda buena palabra y obra.

The Man of Lawlessness
2 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ(A) and our being gathered to him,(B) we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter(C)—asserting that the day of the Lord(D) has already come.(E) 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you(F) in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion(G) occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed,(H) the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God(I) or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.(J)
5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things?(K) 6 And now you know what is holding him back,(L) so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back(M) will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed,(N) whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth(O) and destroy by the splendor of his coming.(P) 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan(Q) works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders(R) that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing.(S) They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.(T) 11 For this reason God sends them(U) a powerful delusion(V) so that they will believe the lie(W) 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.(X)
Stand Firm
13 But we ought always to thank God for you,(Y) brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits[b](Z) to be saved(AA) through the sanctifying work of the Spirit(AB) and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you(AC) to this through our gospel,(AD) that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm(AE) and hold fast to the teachings[c] we passed on to you,(AF) whether by word of mouth or by letter.
16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father,(AG) who loved us(AH) and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage(AI) your hearts and strengthen(AJ) you in every good deed and word.
