Ang Kagandahang-loob ni David
9 Minsa'y(A) nagtanong si David, “Mayroon pa bang nalalabi sa sambahayan ni Saul? Gusto kong ipadama sa kanya ang aking kagandahang-loob alang-alang kay Jonatan.”
2 Nang buháy pa si Saul, may alipin siyang Ziba ang pangalan, kaya't ipinatawag ito ni David. Paglapit ni Ziba, tinanong siya ng hari, “Ikaw ba si Ziba?”
“Ako nga po, mahal na hari” tugon niya.
3 “May(B) nalalaman ka bang buháy sa sambahayan ni Saul? Gusto ko siyang pakitaan ng mabuti, ayon sa aking pangako sa Diyos,” wika ng hari.
“Mayroon po. Si Mefiboset[a] na anak ni Jonatan. Siya po'y isang lumpo,” tugon ni Ziba.
4 “Saan siya naroon?” tanong muli ng hari.
“Nasa Lo-debar po, nakatira sa bahay ni Maquir na anak ni Amiel,” sagot ni Ziba. 5 Ipinasundo agad ni David 6 si Mefiboset,[b] anak ni Jonatan at apo ni Saul. Nang maiharap siya kay David, siya'y nagpatirapa bilang pagbibigay-galang.
“Ikaw ba si Mefiboset?”[c] tanong ng hari.
“Ako nga po, mahal na hari” sagot naman nito.
7 Sinabi ni David, “Huwag kang matakot. Gagawin ko ang lahat ng magagawa ko para sa iyo, alang-alang kay Jonatan. Ibabalik ko sa iyo ang lahat ng lupain ng iyong lolong si Saul, at laging nakahanda ang aking hapag para sa iyo.”
8 Nagpatirapang muli si Mefiboset,[d] at sinabi niya, “Sino po ako para pag-ukulan ng pansin? Ako'y walang silbi!”
9 Tinawag ni David si Ziba at sa harapan niya'y sinabi, “Ibibigay ko sa apo ni Saul ang lahat ng ari-arian niya at ng kanyang sambahayan. 10 Kayo ng iyong mga anak at mga alipin ang magbubungkal ng kanyang lupain. Aalagaan ninyong mabuti upang mag-ani nang sagana at magkaroon ng sapat na pagkain ang sambahayan ng iyong panginoon. Ngunit si Mefiboset[e] ay sa akin sasalo ng pagkain.” Ang mga anak ni Ziba ay labinlima at dalawampu ang kanyang mga alipin.
11 Sumagot si Ziba, “Masusunod pong lahat ang utos ninyo, Kamahalan.”
At mula noo'y kasalo na ni David si Mefiboset,[f] parang tunay na anak niya. 12 Si Mefiboset[g] ay may bata pang anak na lalaki na ang pangala'y Mica. Mula nga noon, ang buong sambahayan ni Ziba ay naglingkod kay Mefiboset.[h] 13 Kaya't si Mefiboset[i] na pilay ang parehong paa ay nanirahan sa Jerusalem, at kasalo ng hari sa pagkain.

David’s Kindness to Mephibosheth
9 Now David said, “Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may (A)show him [a]kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2 And there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was (B)Ziba. So when they had called him to David, the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
He said, “At your service!”
3 Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show (C)the kindness of God?”
And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is (D)lame in his feet.”
4 So the king said to him, “Where is he?”
And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is in the house of (E)Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”
5 Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.
6 Now when (F)Mephibosheth[b] the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?”
And he answered, “Here is your servant!”
7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
8 Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such (G)a dead dog as I?”
9 And the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, (H)“I have given to your master’s son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house. 10 You therefore, and your sons and your servants, shall work the land for him, and you shall bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have food to eat. But Mephibosheth your master’s son (I)shall eat bread at my table always.” Now Ziba had (J)fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11 Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant, so will your servant do.”
“As for Mephibosheth,” said the king, “he shall eat at [c]my table like one of the king’s sons.” 12 Mephibosheth had a young son (K)whose name was Micha. And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants of Mephibosheth. 13 So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, (L)for he ate continually at the king’s table. And he (M)was lame in both his feet.

9 And David said, “Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may (A)show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?” 2 Now there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was (B)Ziba, and they called him to David. And the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” And he said, “I am your servant.” 3 And the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, that I may show (C)the kindness of God to him?” Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of (D)Jonathan; he is crippled in his feet.” 4 The king said to him, “Where is he?” And Ziba said to the king, “He is in the house of (E)Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar.” 5 Then King David sent and brought him from the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, at Lo-debar. 6 And (F)Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, son of Saul, came to David and fell on his face and paid homage. And David said, “Mephibosheth!” And he answered, “Behold, I am your servant.” 7 And David said to him, “Do not fear, (G)for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and (H)you shall eat at my table always.” 8 And he paid homage and said, “What is your servant, that you should show regard for (I)a dead dog such as I?”
9 Then the king called Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, “All that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master's grandson. 10 And you and your sons and your servants shall till the land for him and shall bring in the produce, that your master's grandson may have bread to eat. But Mephibosheth your master's grandson (J)shall always eat at my table.” Now Ziba had (K)fifteen sons and twenty servants. 11 Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so will your servant do.” So Mephibosheth (L)ate at David's[a] table, like one of the king's sons. 12 And Mephibosheth had a young son, (M)whose name was Mica. And all who lived in Ziba's house became Mephibosheth's servants. 13 So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, for (N)he ate always at the king's table. Now (O)he was lame in both his feet.
