Victorias de David

(1 Cr 18:1-13)

Después de un tiempo, David atacó y puso a los filisteos bajo su control. Y les quitó Meteg Amá[a] del poder de los filisteos. David también derrotó a los moabitas. Los obligó a tenderse en el suelo y los midió con una cuerda: mató a los que quedaban dentro de cada dos medidas de la cuerda, y a los que quedaban dentro de una medida les perdonó la vida. De esa manera, los moabitas se convirtieron en siervos de David y le pagaban tributo.

David fue al área cercana al río Éufrates para levantar ahí un monumento a sus triunfos.[b] Ahí David venció al rey de Sobá, Hadad Ezer hijo de Rejob. David capturó 1000 carros de combate, 7000 jinetes[c] y 20 000 soldados de infantería de Hadad Ezer. También les cortó las patas a los caballos que tiraban de los carros,[d] dejando sanos sólo a 100.

Los sirios de Damasco acudieron en auxilio de Hadad Ezer, rey de Sobá, pero David los derrotó matando a 22 000 sirios. Luego David puso tropas en Damasco. Los sirios pasaron a ser siervos de David y le pagaban tributo. El SEÑOR le daba la victoria a David dondequiera que iba.

David tomó todos los escudos[e] de oro que llevaban los oficiales de Hadad Ezer y se los llevo para Jerusalén. También tomó muchos objetos de bronce de Tébaj[f] y Berotay, ciudades que habían pertenecido a Hadad Ezer.

Cuando Tou, rey de Jamat, se enteró de que David había derrotado a todo el ejército de Hadad Ezer, 10 envió a su hijo Jorán a ver al rey David para saludarlo y felicitarlo por su victoria contra Hadad Ezer, pues Tou también había peleado antes contra Hadad Ezer. Jorán le trajo obsequios de plata, oro y bronce. 11 David los tomó, los consagró al SEÑOR y los puso con los otros objetos que había tomado de las naciones que había derrotado, los cuales también había consagrado. 12 David derrotó a Edom, a Moab, a los amonitas, a los filisteos y a los amalecitas. También derrotó a Hadad Ezer, hijo de Rejob, rey de Sobá. 13 David se hizo aun más famoso cuando regresó a su casa después de derrotar a 18 000 edomitas[g] en el valle de la sal. 14 David instaló tropas por toda la tierra de Edom. David's Victories

(A)After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and David took (B)Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

(C)And he defeated Moab and he measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. Two lines he measured to be put to death, and one full line to be spared. And the Moabites (D)became servants to David and (E)brought tribute.

David also defeated (F)Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of (G)Zobah, as he went to restore his power at the river Euphrates. (H)And David took from him 1,700 horsemen, and 20,000 foot soldiers. And David (I)hamstrung all the chariot horses but left enough for 100 chariots. (J)And when the (K)Syrians of Damascus came to help (L)Hadadezer king of (M)Zobah, David struck down 22,000 men of the Syrians. Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Syrians (N)became servants to David and brought tribute. (O)And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went. And David took (P)the shields of gold that were carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem. And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took very much bronze.

When Toi king of (Q)Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer, 10 Toi sent his son Joram to King David, to ask about his health and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him, for Hadadezer had often been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles of silver, of gold, and of bronze. 11 (R)These also King David dedicated to the Lord, together with the silver and gold that he dedicated from all the nations he subdued, 12 from Edom, (S)Moab, (T)the Ammonites, (U)the Philistines, (V)Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of (W)Zobah.

13 And David made a name for himself when he returned from striking down 18,000 Edomites in (X)the Valley of Salt. 14 Then he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, (Y)and all the Edomites became David's servants. And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.

15 So David reigned over all Israel. And David administered justice and equity to all his people. 16 (Z)Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army, and (AA)Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder, 17 and (AB)Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and (AC)Seraiah was secretary, 18 and (AD)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over[a] the (AE)Cherethites and the Pelethites, and David's sons were priests.

And after this it came to pass that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.

And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

10 Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

11 Which also king David did dedicate unto the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;

12 Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.

14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.

15 And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

17 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;

18 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.
