6 (A)Volvió David a reunir a todos los hombres escogidos de Israel, treinta mil. 2 Y David se levantó y fue con todo el pueblo que estaba con él a[a] Baala[b] de Judá, para hacer subir desde allí el arca de Dios(B), la cual es llamada por el Nombre(C), el nombre del Señor de los ejércitos, que está[c] sobre los querubines(D). 3 Pusieron[d] el arca de Dios sobre un carro nuevo(E), para que la pudieran llevar de la casa de Abinadab que estaba en la colina. Uza y Ahío, hijos de Abinadab, guiaban el carro nuevo. 4 Y lo llevaron con el arca de Dios de la casa de Abinadab que estaba en la colina, y Ahío iba delante del arca(F). 5 David y toda la casa de Israel se regocijaban delante del Señor con toda clase de instrumentos hechos de madera de abeto[e], y con liras, arpas, panderos(G), castañuelas y címbalos(H).

6 Pero cuando llegaron a la era de Nacón(I), Uza extendió la mano hacia el arca de Dios, y la sostuvo(J) porque los bueyes casi la volcaron. 7 Y se encendió la ira del Señor contra Uza, y Dios lo hirió allí por su[f] irreverencia; y allí murió junto al arca de Dios(K). 8 Entonces David se enojó porque el Señor había estallado en ira[g] contra Uza, y llamó aquel lugar Pérez-uza[h] hasta el día de hoy. 9 David tuvo temor del Señor(L) aquel día, y dijo: ¿Cómo podrá venir a mí el arca del Señor? 10 Y David no quiso trasladar el arca del Señor con él a la ciudad de David, sino que[i] la hizo llevar[j] a la casa de Obed-edom geteo(M). 11 Por tres meses permaneció el arca del Señor en la casa de Obed-edom geteo; y bendijo el Señor a Obed-edom y a toda su casa(N).

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem(A)(B)

6 David again brought together all the able young men of Israel—thirty thousand. 2 He and all his men went to Baalah[a](C) in Judah to bring up from there the ark(D) of God, which is called by the Name,[b](E) the name of the Lord Almighty, who is enthroned(F) between the cherubim(G) on the ark. 3 They set the ark of God on a new cart(H) and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill.(I) Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new cart 4 with the ark of God on it,[c] and Ahio was walking in front of it. 5 David and all Israel were celebrating(J) with all their might before the Lord, with castanets,[d] harps, lyres, timbrels, sistrums and cymbals.(K)

6 When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of(L) the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. 7 The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act;(M) therefore God struck him down,(N) and he died there beside the ark of God.

8 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath(O) had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.[e](P)

9 David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, “How(Q) can the ark of the Lord ever come to me?” 10 He was not willing to take the ark of the Lord to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom(R) the Gittite. 11 The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household.(S)

6 Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

2 And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the Lord of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.

3 And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.

4 And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.

5 And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.

6 And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.

7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

8 And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this day.

9 And David was afraid of the Lord that day, and said, How shall the ark of the Lord come to me?

10 So David would not remove the ark of the Lord unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

11 And the ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the Lord blessed Obededom, and all his household.

9 Pero cuando llegaron a la era de Quidón, Uza extendió su mano para sostener el arca, porque los bueyes casi la volcaron(I). 10 Y se encendió la ira del Señor contra Uza, y lo hirió porque había extendido su mano al arca(J); y allí murió delante de Dios(K). 11 Entonces David se enojó porque el Señor había estallado en ira[c] contra Uza; y llamó aquel lugar Pérez-uza[d] hasta el día de hoy. 12 David tuvo temor a Dios aquel día, y dijo: ¿Cómo puedo traer a mí el arca de Dios? 13 Así que David no llevó consigo el arca a la ciudad de David, sino que la hizo llevar[e] a la casa de Obed-edom(L) geteo. 14 Así que el arca de Dios estuvo con la familia de Obed-edom, en su casa, tres meses; y bendijo el Señor a la familia de Obed-edom(M) y todo lo que tenía.

5 So David assembled all Israel,(A) from the Shihor River(B) in Egypt to Lebo Hamath,(C) to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.(D) 6 David and all Israel went to Baalah(E) of Judah (Kiriath Jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the Lord, who is enthroned between the cherubim(F)—the ark that is called by the Name.

7 They moved the ark of God from Abinadab’s(G) house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it. 8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.(H)

9 When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled. 10 The Lord’s anger(I) burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down(J) because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.

11 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.[a](K)

12 David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?” 13 He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom(L) the Gittite. 14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household(M) and everything he had.
