Ish-Bosheth Murdered
4 When Ish-Bosheth son of Saul heard that Abner(A) had died in Hebron, he lost courage, and all Israel became alarmed. 2 Now Saul’s son had two men who were leaders of raiding bands. One was named Baanah and the other Rekab; they were sons of Rimmon the Beerothite from the tribe of Benjamin—Beeroth(B) is considered part of Benjamin, 3 because the people of Beeroth fled to Gittaim(C) and have resided there as foreigners to this day.
4 (Jonathan(D) son of Saul had a son who was lame in both feet. He was five years old when the news(E) about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but as she hurried to leave, he fell and became disabled.(F) His name was Mephibosheth.)(G)
5 Now Rekab and Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, set out for the house of Ish-Bosheth,(H) and they arrived there in the heat of the day while he was taking his noonday rest.(I) 6 They went into the inner part of the house as if to get some wheat, and they stabbed(J) him in the stomach. Then Rekab and his brother Baanah slipped away.
7 They had gone into the house while he was lying on the bed in his bedroom. After they stabbed and killed him, they cut off his head. Taking it with them, they traveled all night by way of the Arabah.(K) 8 They brought the head(L) of Ish-Bosheth to David at Hebron and said to the king, “Here is the head of Ish-Bosheth son of Saul,(M) your enemy, who tried to kill you. This day the Lord has avenged(N) my lord the king against Saul and his offspring.”
9 David answered Rekab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, “As surely as the Lord lives, who has delivered(O) me out of every trouble, 10 when someone told me, ‘Saul is dead,’ and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and put him to death in Ziklag.(P) That was the reward I gave him for his news! 11 How much more—when wicked men have killed an innocent man in his own house and on his own bed—should I not now demand his blood(Q) from your hand and rid the earth of you!”
12 So David gave an order to his men, and they killed them.(R) They cut off their hands and feet and hung the bodies by the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-Bosheth and buried it in Abner’s tomb at Hebron.

4 Now when [a]Ish-bosheth, Saul’s son, heard that (A)Abner had died in Hebron, [b](B)his courage failed, and all Israel was horrified. 2 And Saul’s son had two men who were commanders of troops: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin (for (C)Beeroth is also considered (D)part of Benjamin, 3 and the Beerothites fled to (E)Gittaim and have lived there as strangers until this day).
4 Now (F)Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son who was disabled in both feet. He was five years old when the (G)news of Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse picked him up and fled. But it happened that in her hurry to flee, he fell and could no longer walk. And his name was [c](H)Mephibosheth.
5 So the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, departed and came to the house of (I)Ish-bosheth in the heat of the day, while he was taking his midday rest. 6 [d]And they came to the interior of the house as if [e]to get wheat, and (J)they struck him in the belly; and Rechab and his brother Baanah escaped. 7 Now when they had come into the house, as he was lying on his bed in his bedroom, they struck him and killed him, and they beheaded him. And they took his head and [f](K)traveled by way of the Arabah all night. 8 Then they brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David at Hebron, and said to the king, “Behold, the head of Ish-bosheth (L)the son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life; so the Lord has given my lord the king vengeance this day on Saul and his [g]descendants.”
9 But David replied to Rechab and his brother Baanah, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, “As the Lord lives, (M)who has redeemed my life from all distress, 10 (N)when the one who informed me, saying, ‘Behold, Saul is dead,’ also [h]viewed himself as the bearer of good news, I seized him and killed him in Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his news. 11 How much more, when wicked men have killed a righteous man in his own house on his bed, shall I not now (O)require his blood from your hands and eliminate you both from the earth?” 12 Then (P)David commanded the young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and feet, and hung them up beside the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth (Q)and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.

4 扫 罗 的 儿 子 伊 施 波 设 听 见 押 尼 珥 死 在 希 伯 仑 ， 手 就 发 软 ； 以 色 列 众 人 也 都 惊 惶
2 扫 罗 的 儿 子 伊 施 波 设 有 两 个 军 长 ， 一 名 巴 拿 ， 一 名 利 甲 ， 是 便 雅 悯 支 派 、 比 录 人 临 门 的 儿 子 。 比 录 也 属 便 雅 悯 。
3 比 录 人 早 先 逃 到 基 他 音 ， 在 那 里 寄 居 ， 直 到 今 日 。
4 扫 罗 的 儿 子 约 拿 单 有 一 个 儿 子 名 叫 米 非 波 设 ， 是 瘸 腿 的 。 扫 罗 和 约 拿 单 死 亡 的 消 息 从 耶 斯 列 传 到 的 时 候 ， 他 才 五 岁 。 他 乳 母 抱 着 他 逃 跑 ； 因 为 跑 得 太 急 ， 孩 子 掉 在 地 上 ， 腿 就 瘸 了 。

9 大 卫 对 比 录 人 临 门 的 儿 子 利 甲 和 他 兄 弟 巴 拿 说 ： 我 指 着 救 我 性 命 脱 离 一 切 苦 难 、 永 生 的 耶 和 华 起 誓 ：
10 从 前 有 人 报 告 我 说 ， 扫 罗 死 了 ， 他 自 以 为 报 好 消 息 ； 我 就 拿 住 他 ， 将 他 杀 在 洗 革 拉 ， 这 就 作 了 他 报 消 息 的 赏 赐 。
11 何 况 恶 人 将 义 人 杀 在 他 的 床 上 ， 我 岂 不 向 你 们 讨 流 他 血 的 罪 、 从 世 上 除 灭 你 们 呢 ？
12 於 是 大 卫 吩 咐 少 年 人 将 他 们 杀 了 ， 砍 断 他 们 的 手 脚 ， 挂 在 希 伯 仑 的 池 旁 ， 却 将 伊 施 波 设 的 首 级 葬 在 希 伯 仑 押 尼 珥 的 坟 墓 里 。

4 Lorsque le fils de Saül apprit qu’Abner était mort à Hébron, ses mains restèrent sans force, et tout Israël fut dans l’épouvante. 2 Le fils de Saül avait deux chefs de bandes, dont l’un s’appelait Baana et l’autre Récab; ils étaient fils de Rimmon de Beéroth, d’entre les fils de Benjamin. – Car Beéroth était regardée comme faisant partie de Benjamin, 3 et les Beérothiens s’étaient enfuis à Guitthaïm, où ils ont habité jusqu’à ce jour. – 4 Jonathan, fils de Saül, avait un fils perclus des pieds; il était âgé de cinq ans lorsque arriva de Jizreel la nouvelle de la mort de Saül et de Jonathan; sa nourrice le prit et s’enfuit, et comme elle précipitait sa fuite, il tomba et resta boiteux; son nom était Mephiboscheth.
5 Or, les fils de Rimmon de Beéroth, Récab et Baana, se rendirent pendant la chaleur du jour à la maison d’Isch-Boscheth, qui était couché pour son repos de midi. 6 Ils pénétrèrent jusqu’au milieu de la maison, comme pour prendre du froment, et ils le frappèrent au ventre; puis Récab et Baana, son frère, se sauvèrent. 7 Ils entrèrent donc dans la maison pendant qu’il reposait sur son lit dans sa chambre à coucher, ils le frappèrent et le firent mourir, et ils lui coupèrent la tête. Ils prirent sa tête, et ils marchèrent toute la nuit au travers de la plaine. 8 Ils apportèrent la tête d’Isch-Boscheth à David dans Hébron, et ils dirent au roi: Voici la tête d’Isch-Boscheth, fils de Saül, ton ennemi, qui en voulait à ta vie; l’Eternel venge aujourd’hui le roi mon seigneur de Saül et de sa race. 9 David répondit à Récab et Baana, son frère, fils de Rimmon de Beéroth: L’Eternel qui m’a délivré de tout péril est vivant! 10 celui qui est venu me dire: Voici, Saül est mort, et qui croyait m’annoncer une bonne nouvelle, je l’ai fait saisir et tuer à Tsiklag, pour lui donner le salaire de son message; 11 et quand des méchants ont assassiné un homme juste dans sa maison et sur sa couche, combien plus ne redemanderai-je pas son sang de vos mains et ne vous exterminerai-je pas de la terre? 12 Et David ordonna à ses gens de les tuer; ils leur coupèrent les mains et les pieds, et les pendirent au bord de l’étang d’Hébron. Ils prirent ensuite la tête d’Isch-Boscheth, et l’enterrèrent dans le sépulcre d’Abner à Hébron.
