9 Respondiendo David a Recab y a su hermano Baana, hijos de Rimón el beerotita, les dijo: «Vive el Señor que ha redimido mi vida de toda angustia(A), 10 porque cuando uno me avisó: “Saúl ha muerto”, pensando que me traía buenas noticias[a], yo lo prendí y lo maté en Siclag, lo cual fue el pago que le di por sus noticias(B). 11 ¿Cuánto más, cuando hombres malvados han matado a un hombre justo en su propia casa y sobre su cama, no demandaré ahora su sangre de las manos de ustedes(C), borrándolos[b] de la tierra?».

—El Señor me ha librado de todas mis angustias y, tan cierto como que él vive, 10 les aseguro que quien me anunció la muerte de Saúl se imaginaba que me traía buenas noticias, ¡pero la recompensa que le di por tan “buenas noticias” fue apresarlo y matarlo en Siclag! 11 ¡Y con mayor razón castigaré a los malvados que han dado muerte a un inocente mientras este dormía en su propia cama! ¿Acaso no voy a vengar su muerte exterminándolos a ustedes de la tierra?

9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the Lord liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
