²¹ He killed an Egyptian, an important man. The Egyptian had a spear in his hand. But Benaiah went down to him with a heavy stick and took the spear from the Egyptian’s hand. Then he killed him with his own spear. ²² Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things. His name was respected as well as the three strong men. ²³ He was honored among the thirty. But he was not as strong as the three. David made him captain of the soldiers who kept him from danger.
