The oracle of David, the son of Jesse,
    the oracle of ^(A)the man who was raised on high,
^(B)the anointed of the God of Jacob,
    the sweet psalmist of Israel:^[a]

^2 (C)“The Spirit of the Lord speaks by me;
    his word is on my tongue.
³ The God of Israel has spoken;
    ^(D)the Rock of Israel has said to me:
When one rules justly over men,
    ruling ^(E)in the fear of God,
⁴ he ^(F)dawns on them like the morning light,
    like the sun shining forth on a cloudless morning,
    like rain^[b] that makes grass to sprout from the earth.

⁵ “For does not my house stand so with God?
    ^(G)For he has made with me an everlasting covenant,
    ordered in all things and secure.
For will he not cause to prosper
    all my help and my desire?
⁶ But worthless men^[c] are all like thorns that are thrown away,
    for they cannot be taken with the hand;
⁷ but the man who touches them
    arms himself with iron and the shaft of a spear,
    and they are utterly consumed with fire.”^[d]

⁶ Behold, we heard of it in ^(H)Ephrathah;
    we found it in ^(I)the fields of Jaar.
⁷ “Let us go to his dwelling place;
    let us ^(J)worship at his ^(K)footstool!”

^8 (L)Arise, O Lord, and go to your ^(M)resting place,
    you and the ark of your ^(N)might.
⁹ Let your ^(O)priests be ^(P)clothed with righteousness,
    and let your ^(Q)saints shout for joy.
¹⁰ For the sake of your servant David,
    ^(R)do not turn away the face of ^(S)your anointed one.

^11 (T)The Lord swore to David a sure oath
    ^(U)from which he will not turn back:
^(V)“One of the sons of your body^[a]
    I will set on your throne.
¹² If your sons keep my covenant
    and my testimonies that I shall teach them,
their sons also forever
    shall ^(W)sit on your throne.”

¹³ For the Lord has ^(A)chosen Zion;
    he has ^(B)desired it for his dwelling place:
¹⁴ “This is my ^(C)resting place forever;
    here I will ^(D)dwell, for I have desired it.
¹⁵ I will abundantly ^(E)bless her provisions;
    I will ^(F)satisfy her poor with bread.
¹⁶ Her ^(G)priests I will clothe with salvation,
    and her ^(H)saints will shout for joy.
¹⁷ There I will make ^(I)a horn to sprout for David;
    I have prepared ^(J)a lamp for ^(K)my anointed.
¹⁸ His enemies I will ^(L)clothe with shame,
    but on him his crown will shine.”

^(A)thrones were placed,
    and the ^(B)Ancient of Days took his seat;
^(C)his clothing was white as snow,
    and ^(D)the hair of his head like pure wool;
his throne was fiery flames;
    ^(E)its wheels were burning fire.
^10 (F)A stream of fire issued
    and came out from before him;
^(G)a thousand thousands ^(H)served him,
    ^(I)and ten thousand times ten thousand ^(J)stood before him;
the ^(K)court sat in judgment,
    and ^(L)the books were opened.

and ^(A)behold, with the clouds of heaven
    there came one like a son of man,
and he came to the ^(B)Ancient of Days
    and was presented before him.
^14 (C)And to him was given dominion
    and glory and a kingdom,
that all ^(D)peoples, nations, and languages
    should serve him;
^(E)his dominion is an everlasting dominion,
    which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom one
    that shall not be destroyed.

^3 (I)The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
    the floods have lifted up their voice;
    the floods lift up their roaring.
⁴ Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
    mightier than the waves of the sea,
    ^(J)the Lord ^(K)on high is mighty!

⁵ Your ^(L)decrees are very trustworthy;
    ^(M)holiness befits your house,
    O Lord, forevermore.
