2 Samuel 18:33
New American Standard Bible
33 [a]Then the king trembled and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And this is what he said as he walked: “(A)My son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! (B)If only I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

Proverbs 19:13-26
New American Standard Bible
13 A (A)foolish son is destruction to his father,
And the (B)quarrels of a wife are a constant dripping.
14 House and wealth are an (C)inheritance from fathers,
But a prudent wife is from the Lord.
15 (D)Laziness casts one into a deep sleep,
And [a]a lazy [b]person will suffer hunger.
16 One who (E)keeps the commandment keeps his soul,
But one who [c]is careless of [d]conduct will die.
17 One who (F)is gracious to a poor person lends to the Lord,
And He will repay him for his [e](G)good deed.
18 (H)Discipline your son while there is hope,
And do not desire [f]his death.
19 A person of great anger will suffer the penalty,
For if you rescue him, you will only have to do it again.
20 (I)Listen to advice and accept discipline,
So that you may be wise [g]the rest of your days.
21 Many (J)plans are in a person’s heart,
But the (K)advice of the Lord will stand.
22 What is desirable in a person is his [h]kindness,
And it is better to be a poor person than a liar.
23 [i]The (L)fear of the Lord leads to life,
So that one may sleep (M)satisfied, [j](N)untouched by evil.
24 The [k](O)lazy one buries his hand (P)in the dish,
But will not even bring it back to his mouth.
25 (Q)Strike a scoffer and the naive may become clever,
But (R)rebuke one who has understanding, and he will [l]gain knowledge.
26 He (S)who assaults his father and drives his mother away
Is a shameful and disgraceful son.

3 This is the very thing I (A)wrote you, so that (B)when I came, I would not have sorrow from those who ought to make me rejoice; having (C)confidence in you all that my joy was the joy of you all.
