Simei maldice a David
16 Cuando David pasó un poco más allá de la cumbre(A), vio que Siba, el criado de Mefiboset(B), salía a su encuentro con un par de asnos aparejados, y sobre ellos había 200 panes, 100 racimos de uvas pasas, 100 frutas de verano y un odre de vino(C). 2 Y el rey dijo a Siba: «¿Para qué tienes esto?». Y Siba respondió: «Los asnos(D) son para que monte la familia[a] del rey, y el pan y la fruta de verano para que los jóvenes coman, y el vino para que beba cualquiera que se fatigue en el desierto(E)». 3 Entonces el rey dijo: «¿Y dónde está el hijo de tu señor(F)?». Y Siba respondió al rey: «Está en Jerusalén, pues ha dicho(G): “Hoy la casa de Israel me devolverá el reino de mi padre”». 4 Y el rey dijo a Siba: «Mira, todo lo que pertenece a Mefiboset es tuyo». Y Siba dijo: «Me inclino ante usted; que halle yo gracia ante sus ojos, oh rey, mi señor».
5 Al llegar el rey David a Bahurim(H), entonces, salió de allí un hombre de la familia de la casa de Saúl que se llamaba Simei, hijo de Gera(I). Cuando salió, iba maldiciendo(J), 6 y tiraba piedras a David y a todos los siervos del rey David, aunque todo el pueblo y todos los hombres valientes estaban a su derecha y a su izquierda. 7 Así decía Simei mientras maldecía: «¡Fuera, fuera, hombre sanguinario e indigno(K)! 8 El Señor ha hecho volver sobre ti toda la sangre derramada de la casa de Saúl, en cuyo lugar has reinado(L); el Señor ha entregado el reino en mano de tu hijo Absalón. Aquí estás prendido en tu propia maldad, porque eres hombre sanguinario(M)».
9 Entonces Abisai, hijo de Sarvia(N), dijo al rey: «¿Por qué ha de maldecir este perro muerto(O) a mi señor el rey(P)? Déjeme que vaya ahora y le corte[b] la cabeza». 10 Pero el rey dijo: «¿Qué tengo yo que ver con ustedes, hijos de Sarvia? Si él maldice(Q), y si el Señor le ha dicho(R): “Maldice a David”, ¿quién, pues, le dirá: “¿Por qué has hecho esto(S)?”». 11 Entonces David dijo a Abisai y a todos sus siervos: «Mi hijo que salió de mis entrañas busca mi vida(T); ¿cuánto más entonces este benjamita? Déjenlo, que siga maldiciendo, porque el Señor se lo ha dicho(U). 12 Quizá el Señor mire mi aflicción y me devuelva[c] bien por su maldición de hoy(V)». 13 Así pues, David y sus hombres siguieron su camino; y Simei iba por el lado del monte paralelo a él, y mientras iba lo maldecía, le tiraba piedras[d] y le arrojaba polvo. 14 Y el rey y todo el pueblo que iba con él llegaron al Jordán[e](W) fatigados, y allí descansaron[f].
15 Entonces Absalón y todo el pueblo, los hombres de Israel, entraron en Jerusalén, y Ahitofel con él(X). 16 Sucedió que cuando Husai el arquita, amigo de David, vino a Absalón(Y), Husai dijo a Absalón(Z): «¡Viva el rey! ¡Viva el rey(AA)!». 17 Y Absalón dijo a Husai: «¿Es esta tu lealtad[g] para con tu amigo? ¿Por qué no fuiste con tu amigo(AB)?». 18 Respondió Husai a Absalón: «No, pues a quien el Señor, este pueblo y todos los hombres de Israel han escogido, de él seré, y con él me quedaré. 19 Además, ¿a quién debería yo servir? ¿No habría de ser en la presencia de su hijo? Tal como he servido delante de tu padre, así seré delante de ti(AC)».
20 Entonces Absalón dijo a Ahitofel: «Den ustedes su consejo. ¿Qué debemos hacer?». 21 Y Ahitofel respondió a Absalón: «Lléguese a las concubinas de su padre, a quienes él ha dejado para guardar la casa(AD). Entonces todo Israel sabrá que usted ha hecho odioso a su padre, y las manos de todos los que están con usted se fortalecerán». 22 Levantaron, pues, una tienda en el terrado para Absalón, y él se llegó a las concubinas(AE) de su padre a la vista de todo Israel(AF). 23 El consejo que Ahitofel daba[h] en aquellos días era como si uno consultara la palabra de Dios. Así era considerado todo consejo de Ahitofel tanto por David como por Absalón(AG).

16 Cuando David pasó un poco más allá de la cumbre del monte, he aquí Siba el criado de Mefi-boset,(A) que salía a recibirle con un par de asnos enalbardados, y sobre ellos doscientos panes, cien racimos de pasas, cien panes de higos secos, y un cuero de vino. 2 Y dijo el rey a Siba: ¿Qué es esto? Y Siba respondió: Los asnos son para que monte la familia del rey, los panes y las pasas para que coman los criados, y el vino para que beban los que se cansen en el desierto. 3 Y dijo el rey: ¿Dónde está el hijo de tu señor? Y Siba respondió al rey: He aquí él se ha quedado en Jerusalén, porque ha dicho: Hoy me devolverá la casa de Israel el reino de mi padre. 4 Entonces el rey dijo a Siba: He aquí, sea tuyo todo lo que tiene Mefi-boset. Y respondió Siba inclinándose: Rey señor mío, halle yo gracia delante de ti.
5 Y vino el rey David hasta Bahurim; y he aquí salía uno de la familia de la casa de Saúl, el cual se llamaba Simei hijo de Gera; y salía maldiciendo, 6 y arrojando piedras contra David, y contra todos los siervos del rey David; y todo el pueblo y todos los hombres valientes estaban a su derecha y a su izquierda. 7 Y decía Simei, maldiciéndole: ¡Fuera, fuera, hombre sanguinario y perverso! 8 Jehová te ha dado el pago de toda la sangre de la casa de Saúl, en lugar del cual tú has reinado, y Jehová ha entregado el reino en mano de tu hijo Absalón; y hete aquí sorprendido en tu maldad, porque eres hombre sanguinario.
9 Entonces Abisai hijo de Sarvia dijo al rey: ¿Por qué maldice este perro muerto a mi señor el rey? Te ruego que me dejes pasar, y le quitaré la cabeza. 10 Y el rey respondió: ¿Qué tengo yo con vosotros, hijos de Sarvia? Si él así maldice, es porque Jehová le ha dicho que maldiga a David. ¿Quién, pues, le dirá: Por qué lo haces así? 11 Y dijo David a Abisai y a todos sus siervos: He aquí, mi hijo que ha salido de mis entrañas, acecha mi vida; ¿cuánto más ahora un hijo de Benjamín? Dejadle que maldiga, pues Jehová se lo ha dicho. 12 Quizá mirará Jehová mi aflicción, y me dará Jehová bien por sus maldiciones de hoy. 13 Y mientras David y los suyos iban por el camino, Simei iba por el lado del monte delante de él, andando y maldiciendo, y arrojando piedras delante de él, y esparciendo polvo. 14 Y el rey y todo el pueblo que con él estaba, llegaron fatigados, y descansaron allí.
15 Y Absalón y toda la gente suya, los hombres de Israel, entraron en Jerusalén, y con él Ahitofel. 16 Aconteció luego, que cuando Husai arquita, amigo de David, vino al encuentro de Absalón, dijo Husai: ¡Viva el rey, viva el rey! 17 Y Absalón dijo a Husai: ¿Es este tu agradecimiento para con tu amigo? ¿Por qué no fuiste con tu amigo? 18 Y Husai respondió a Absalón: No, sino que de aquel que eligiere Jehová y este pueblo y todos los varones de Israel, de aquel seré yo, y con él me quedaré. 19 ¿Y a quién había yo de servir? ¿No es a su hijo? Como he servido delante de tu padre, así seré delante de ti.
20 Entonces dijo Absalón a Ahitofel: Dad vuestro consejo sobre lo que debemos hacer. 21 Y Ahitofel dijo a Absalón: Llégate a las concubinas de tu padre, que él dejó para guardar la casa; y todo el pueblo de Israel oirá que te has hecho aborrecible a tu padre, y así se fortalecerán las manos de todos los que están contigo. 22 Entonces pusieron para Absalón una tienda sobre el terrado, y se llegó Absalón a las concubinas de su padre, ante los ojos de todo Israel.(B) 23 Y el consejo que daba Ahitofel en aquellos días, era como si se consultase la palabra de Dios. Así era todo consejo de Ahitofel, tanto con David como con Absalón.

16 And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
2 And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.
3 And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.
4 Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.
5 And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
6 And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
7 And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:
8 The Lord hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the Lord hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.
9 Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.
10 And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?
11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath bidden him.
12 It may be that the Lord will look on mine affliction, and that the Lord will requite me good for his cursing this day.
13 And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
14 And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.
15 And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
16 And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.
17 And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?
18 And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the Lord, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.
19 And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father's presence, so will I be in thy presence.
20 Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.
21 And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.
22 So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.
23 And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
