13 ACONTECIO después de esto, que teniendo Absalom hijo de David una hermana hermosa que se llamaba Thamar, enamoróse de ella Amnón hijo de David.
2 Y estaba Amnón angustiado hasta enfermar, por Thamar su hermana: porque por ser ella virgen, parecía á Amnón que sería cosa dificultosa hacerle algo.
3 Y Amnón tenía un amigo que se llamaba Jonadab, hijo de Simea, hermano de David: y era Jonadab hombre muy astuto.
4 Y éste le dijo: Hijo del rey, ¿por qué de día en día vas así enflaqueciendo? ¿no me lo descubrirás á mí? Y Amnón le respondió: Yo amo á Thamar la hermana de Absalom mi hermano.
5 Y Jonadab le dijo: Acuéstate en tu cama, y finge que estás enfermo; y cuando tu padre viniere á visitarte, dile: Ruégote que venga mi hermana Thamar, para que me conforte con alguna comida, y aderece delante de mí alguna vianda, para que viendo yo, la coma de su mano.
6 Acostóse pues Amnón, y fingió que estaba enfermo, y vino el rey: á visitarle: y dijo Amnón al rey: Yo te ruego que venga mi hermana Thamar, y haga delante de mí dos hojuelas, que coma yo de su mano.
7 Y David envió á Thamar á su casa, diciendo: Ve ahora á casa de Amnón tu hermano, y hazle de comer.
8 Y fué Thamar á casa de su hermano Amnón, el cual estaba acostado; y tomó harina, y amasó é hizo hojuelas delante de él, y aderezólas.
9 Tomó luego la sartén, y sacólas delante de él: mas él no quiso comer. Y dijo Amnón: Echad fuera de aquí á todos. Y todos se salieron de allí.
10 Entonces Amnón dijo á Thamar: Trae la comida á la alcoba, para que yo coma de tu mano. Y tomando Thamar las hojuelas que había aderezado, llevólas á su hermano Amnón á la alcoba.
11 Y como ella se las puso delante para que comiese, él trabó de ella, diciéndole: Ven, hermana mía acuéstate conmigo.
12 Ella entonces le respondió: No, hermano mío, no me hagas fuerza; porque no se ha de hacer así con Israel. No hagas tal desacierto.
13 Porque, ¿dónde iría yo con mi deshonra? Y aun tú serías estimado como uno de los perversos en Israel. Ruégote pues ahora que hables al rey, que no me negará á ti.
14 Mas él no la quiso oir; antes pudiendo más que ella la forzó, y echóse con ella.
15 Aborrecióla luego Amnón de tan grande aborrecimiento, que el odio con que la aborreció fué mayor que el amor con que la había amado. Y díjole Amnón: Levántate y vete.
16 Y ella le respondió: No es razón; mayor mal es éste de echarme, que el que me has hecho. Mas él no la quiso oir:
17 Antes llamando su criado que le servía dijo: Echame ésta allá fuera, y tras ella cierra la puerta.
18 Y tenía ella sobre sí una ropa de colores, traje que las hijas vírgenes de los reyes vestían. Echóla pues fuera su criado, y cerró la puerta tras ella.
19 Entonces Thamar tomó ceniza, y esparcióla sobre su cabeza, y rasgó su ropa de colores de que estaba vestida, y puestas sus manos sobre su cabeza, fuése gritando.
20 Y díjole su hermano Absalom: ¿Ha estado contigo tu hermano Amnón? Pues calla ahora, hermana mía: tu hermano es; no pongas tu corazón en este negocio. Y quedóse Thamar desconsolada en casa de Absalom su hermano.
21 Y luego que el rey David oyó todo esto, fué muy enojado.
22 Mas Absalom no habló con Amnón ni malo ni bueno, bien que Absalom aborrecía á Amnón, porque había forzado á Thamar su hermana.
23 Y aconteció pasados dos años, que Absalom tenía esquiladores en Bala-hasor, que está junto á Ephraim; y convidó Absalom á todos los hijos del rey.
24 Y vino Absalom al rey, y díjole: He aquí, tu siervo tiene ahora esquiladores: yo ruego que venga el rey y sus siervos con tu siervo.
25 Y respondió el rey á Absalom: No, hijo mío, no vamos todos, porque no te hagamos costa. Y aunque porfió con él, no quiso ir, mas bendíjolo.
26 Entonces dijo Absalom: Si no, ruégote que venga con nosotros Amnón mi hermano. Y el rey le respondió: ¿Para qué ha de ir contigo?
27 Y como Absalom lo importunase, dejó ir con él á Amnón y á todos los hijos del rey.
28 Y había Absalom dado orden á sus criados, diciendo: Ahora bien, mirad cuando el corazón de Amnón estará alegre del vino, y en diciéndoos yo: Herid á Amnón, entonces matadle, y no temáis; que yo os lo he mandado. Esforzaos pues, y sed valientes.
29 Y los criados de Absalom hicieron con Amnón como Absalom lo había mandado. Levantáronse luego todos los hijos del rey, y subieron todos en sus mulos, y huyeron.
30 Y estando aún ellos en el camino, llegó á David el rumor que decía: Absalom ha muerto á todos los hijos del rey, que ninguno de ellos ha quedado.
31 Entonces levantándose David, rasgó sus vestidos, y echóse en tierra, y todos sus criados, rasgados sus vestidos, estaban delante.
32 Y Jonadab, hijo de Simea hermano de David, habló y dijo: No diga mi señor que han muerto á todos los jóvenes hijos del rey, que sólo Amnón es muerto: porque en boca de Absalom estaba puesto desde el día que Amnón forzó á Thamar su hermana.
33 Por tanto, ahora no ponga mi señor el rey en su corazón esa voz que dice: Todos los hijos del rey son muertos: porque sólo Amnón es muerto.
34 Absalom huyó luego. Entre tanto, alzando sus ojos el mozo que estaba en atalaya, miró, y he aquí mucho pueblo que venía á sus espaldas por el camino de hacia el monte.
35 Y dijo Jonadab al rey: He allí los hijos del rey que vienen: es así como tu siervo ha dicho.
36 Y como él acabó de hablar, he aquí los hijos del rey que vinieron, y alzando su voz lloraron. Y también el mismo rey y todos sus siervos lloraron con muy grandes lamentos.
37 Mas Absalom huyó, y fuése á Talmai hijo de Amiud, rey de Gessur. Y David lloraba por su hijo todos los días.
38 Y después que Absalom huyó y se fué á Gessur, estuvo allá tres años.
39 Y el rey David deseó ver á Absalom: porque ya estaba consolado acerca de Amnón que era muerto.

Si Amnon at si Tamar
13 Ang anak ni David na si Absalom ay may magandang kapatid na ang pangalan ay Tamar. Ngayon, si Amnon, na isa rin sa mga anak ni David ay umiibig kay Tamar. 2 Pero hindi niya magawa ang gusto niyang gawin kay Tamar dahil dalaga pa ito at lagi itong may bantay. Dahil dito, sumama ang loob niya hanggang sa magkasakit siya.
3 May napakatusong kaibigan si Amnon na ang pangalan ay Jonadab. Anak siya ng kapatid ni David na si Shimea. 4 Isang araw, nagtanong siya kay Amnon, “Anak ka ng hari, pero bakit araw-araw kitang nakikitang malungkot? Sabihin mo nga sa akin kung ano ang problema mo.” Sinabi ni Amnon sa kanya, “Gusto ko si Tamar, ang kapatid ni Absalom na kapatid ko sa ama.” 5 Sinabi sa kanya ni Jonadab, “Humiga ka at magkunwaring may sakit. Kapag dinalaw ka ng iyong ama, sabihin mong payagan niya si Tamar na puntahan ka at pakainin. Sabihin mo sa kanyang gusto mong makita si Tamar na naghahanda ng pagkain mo at gusto mo rin na siya ang magpakain sa iyo.”
6 Kaya humiga nga si Amnon at nagkunwaring may sakit. Nang dalawin siya ni Haring David, sinabi niya, “Gusto ko pong pumunta rito ang kapatid kong si Tamar at gumawa ng tinapay sa tabi ko, at siya ang magpakain sa akin.” 7 Kaya nagpasabi si David kay Tamar na nasa palasyo, na puntahan niya ang kapatid niyang si Amnon at maghanda ng pagkain para rito.
8 Pumunta si Tamar sa bahay ng kapatid niyang si Amnon at dinatnan niya itong nakahiga. Kumuha siya ng harina, minasa ito at niluto ang tinapay kung saan nakikita siya ni Amnon. 9 Pagkaluto, kinuha niya ito para pakainin si Amnon, pero tumanggi ito. Sinabi ni Amnon, “Palabasin mo ang lahat ng tao rito!” At lumabas ang lahat ng tao. 10 Pagkatapos, sinabi ni Amnon kay Tamar, “Dalhin mo sa aking silid ang pagkain at subuan mo ako.” Kaya dinala ni Tamar ang pagkain kay Amnon.
11 Pero habang pinapakain niya si Amnon, niyakap siya nito at sinabing magsiping sila.
12 Ngunit tumanggi si Tamar at sinabi, “Huwag mo akong piliting gawin ito! Magkapatid tayo! Huwag mong gawin sa akin ang masamang bagay na ito. Hindi ito dapat mangyari sa Israel. 13 Ano na lang ang mukhang ihaharap ko sa mga tao? At ikaw, ituturing na pinakadakilang hangal sa buong Israel. Pakiusap, kausapin mo ang hari tungkol dito; nasisiguro kong papayag siyang maging asawa mo ako.”
14 Pero hindi siya pinakinggan ni Amnon at dahil sa mas malakas siya kay Tamar napagsamantalahan niya ito. 15 Pagkatapos ng nangyari, kinasuklaman ni Amnon si Tamar, at ang pagkasuklam niya kay Tamar ay mas matindi pa sa pag-ibig na naramdaman niya rito noong una. Sinabi ni Amnon sa kanya, “Lumabas ka!” 16 Sumagot si Tamar, “Hindi ako lalabas! Mas malaking kasalanan ang ginagawa mong pagtataboy sa akin ngayon kaysa sa ginawa mo sa akin.” Pero hindi siya pinakinggan ni Amnon. 17 Sa halip, ipinatawag niya ang personal niyang lingkod at inutusan, “Palabasin mo ang babaeng ito at isara mo ang pinto.”
18 Kaya pinalabas nga niya si Tamar at isinara ang pinto. Nakasuot noon ng maganda at mahabang damit si Tamar dahil iyon ang isinusuot ng mga dalagang anak ng hari nang panahong iyon. 19 Pero dahil sa sinapit ni Tamar, pinunit niya ang maganda at mahaba niyang damit, at naglagay ng abo sa ulo niya. Pagkatapos, lumakad siyang umiiyak habang nakatakip ang kamay niya sa mukha niya.
20 Nang makita siya ng kapatid niyang si Absalom, tinanong siya nito, “May masamang ginawa ba sa iyo si Amnon? Kung mayroon maʼy, huwag mo na lang itong sabihin sa iba dahil kapatid mo siya sa ama. Huwag mo na lang masyadong isipin ang nangyari sa iyo.” At doon na sa bahay ni Absalom nanirahan si Tamar, pero palagi siyang malungkot at nag-iisa. 21 Nang malaman ni Haring David ang nangyari, galit na galit siya. 22 At kahit walang binanggit si Absalom kay Amnon tungkol sa ginawa nito sa kapatid niya, kinasuklaman niya ito sa kahihiyang idinulot nito sa kapatid niyang si Tamar.
Pinatay ni Absalom si Amnon
23 Pagkaraan ng dalawang taon, nang pinapagupitan ni Absalom ang mga tupa niya sa Baal Hazor, malapit sa Efraim, inimbita niya ang lahat ng anak ng hari na sumama para magdiwang doon. 24 Nagpunta siya kay Haring David at sinabi, “Nagpapagupit po ako ng mga tupa, makakapunta po ba kayo at ang mga opisyal nʼyo sa okasyong ito?” 25 Sumagot ang hari, “Hindi na lang anak, mahihirapan ka lang kung sasama kaming lahat.” Pinilit siya ni Absalom pero hindi siya pumayag. Binasbasan na lang niya si Absalom. 26 Sinabi ni Absalom, “Kung hindi po kayo pupunta, si Amnon na lang na kapatid ko ang payagan nʼyong pumunta.” Nagtanong ang hari, “Bakit gusto mo siyang papuntahin doon?” 27 Sa halip na sumagot, nagpumilit pa rin si Absalom, kaya ipinasama na lang ni David si Amnon, at ang iba pa niyang mga anak na lalaki.
28 Sinabi ni Absalom sa mga tauhan niya, “Hintayin nʼyong malasing si Amnon, at pagsenyas ko, patayin nʼyo siya. Huwag kayong matakot; ako ang nag-uutos sa inyo. Lakasan nʼyo ang loob ninyo at huwag kayong magdalawang-isip!” 29 Kaya pinatay ng mga tauhan ni Absalom si Amnon ayon sa utos niya. Sumakay agad ang ibang anak na lalaki ng hari sa kani-kanilang mola[a] at nagsitakas. 30 Habang pauwi na sila sa Jerusalem, may nakapagbalita kay David na pinagpapatay ni Absalom ang mga anak niyang lalaki at walang natira kahit isa. 31 Tumayo si David at pinunit ang damit niya bilang pagluluksa, at dumapa siya sa lupa. Pinunit din ng mga lingkod niya na nakatayo roon ang kanilang damit gaya ng ginawa ni David. 32 Pero sinabi ni Jonadab na anak ng kapatid ni David na si Shimea, “Mahal na Hari, hindi po napatay ang lahat ng anak ninyo kundi si Amnon lang po. Matagal na pong plano ni Absalom na patayin si Amnon mula pa nang pagsamantalahan nito ang kapatid niyang si Tamar. 33 Huwag kayong maniwalang namatay ang lahat ng anak nʼyong lalaki. Si Amnon lang po ang pinatay.” 34 Samantala, tumakas si Absalom.
Nang mga oras ding iyon, may nakita ang mga tagapagbantay sa pader ng Jerusalem na may isang grupong paparating mula sa gilid ng burol sa gawing kanluran. Pumunta ang isang tagapagbantay sa hari at sinabi, “May nakita po kaming mga tao sa daan ng Horonaim, sa gilid ng burol.”[b] 35 Sinabi ni Jonadab sa hari, “Mahal na Hari, tingnan nʼyo po! Nandiyan po ang mga anak ninyong lalaki gaya ng sinabi ko.” 36 Pagkatapos niyang magsalita, dumating ang mga anak na lalaki ni David na umiiyak. Labis ding umiyak si David at ang lahat ng lingkod niya. 37-38 Ipinagluksa ni David ang anak niyang si Amnon sa loob ng mahabang panahon.
Nang tumakas si Absalom, pumunta siya kay Haring Talmai ng Geshur na anak ni Amihud. Doon siya nanirahan sa loob ng tatlong taon. 39 Nang lumipas na ang pangungulila ni Haring David kay Amnon, nangulila naman siya kay Absalom.[c]

Amnon and Tamar
13 In the course of time, Amnon(A) son of David fell in love with Tamar,(B) the beautiful sister of Absalom(C) son of David.
2 Amnon became so obsessed with his sister Tamar that he made himself ill. She was a virgin, and it seemed impossible for him to do anything to her.
3 Now Amnon had an adviser named Jonadab son of Shimeah,(D) David’s brother. Jonadab was a very shrewd man. 4 He asked Amnon, “Why do you, the king’s son, look so haggard morning after morning? Won’t you tell me?”
Amnon said to him, “I’m in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.”
5 “Go to bed and pretend to be ill,” Jonadab said. “When your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘I would like my sister Tamar to come and give me something to eat. Let her prepare the food in my sight so I may watch her and then eat it from her hand.’”
6 So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill. When the king came to see him, Amnon said to him, “I would like my sister Tamar to come and make some special bread in my sight, so I may eat from her hand.”
7 David sent word to Tamar at the palace: “Go to the house of your brother Amnon and prepare some food for him.” 8 So Tamar went to the house of her brother Amnon, who was lying down. She took some dough, kneaded it, made the bread in his sight and baked it. 9 Then she took the pan and served him the bread, but he refused to eat.
“Send everyone out of here,”(E) Amnon said. So everyone left him. 10 Then Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food here into my bedroom so I may eat from your hand.” And Tamar took the bread she had prepared and brought it to her brother Amnon in his bedroom. 11 But when she took it to him to eat, he grabbed(F) her and said, “Come to bed with me, my sister.”(G)
12 “No, my brother!” she said to him. “Don’t force me! Such a thing should not be done in Israel!(H) Don’t do this wicked thing.(I) 13 What about me?(J) Where could I get rid of my disgrace? And what about you? You would be like one of the wicked fools in Israel. Please speak to the king; he will not keep me from being married to you.” 14 But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her.(K)
15 Then Amnon hated her with intense hatred. In fact, he hated her more than he had loved her. Amnon said to her, “Get up and get out!”
16 “No!” she said to him. “Sending me away would be a greater wrong than what you have already done to me.”
But he refused to listen to her. 17 He called his personal servant and said, “Get this woman out of my sight and bolt the door after her.” 18 So his servant put her out and bolted the door after her. She was wearing an ornate[a] robe,(L) for this was the kind of garment the virgin daughters of the king wore. 19 Tamar put ashes(M) on her head and tore the ornate robe she was wearing. She put her hands on her head and went away, weeping aloud as she went.
20 Her brother Absalom said to her, “Has that Amnon, your brother, been with you? Be quiet for now, my sister; he is your brother. Don’t take this thing to heart.” And Tamar lived in her brother Absalom’s house, a desolate woman.
21 When King David heard all this, he was furious.(N) 22 And Absalom never said a word to Amnon, either good or bad;(O) he hated(P) Amnon because he had disgraced his sister Tamar.
Absalom Kills Amnon
23 Two years later, when Absalom’s sheepshearers(Q) were at Baal Hazor near the border of Ephraim, he invited all the king’s sons to come there. 24 Absalom went to the king and said, “Your servant has had shearers come. Will the king and his attendants please join me?”
25 “No, my son,” the king replied. “All of us should not go; we would only be a burden to you.” Although Absalom urged him, he still refused to go but gave him his blessing.
26 Then Absalom said, “If not, please let my brother Amnon come with us.”
The king asked him, “Why should he go with you?” 27 But Absalom urged him, so he sent with him Amnon and the rest of the king’s sons.
28 Absalom(R) ordered his men, “Listen! When Amnon is in high(S) spirits from drinking wine and I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon down,’ then kill him. Don’t be afraid. Haven’t I given you this order? Be strong and brave.(T)” 29 So Absalom’s men did to Amnon what Absalom had ordered. Then all the king’s sons got up, mounted their mules and fled.
30 While they were on their way, the report came to David: “Absalom has struck down all the king’s sons; not one of them is left.” 31 The king stood up, tore(U) his clothes and lay down on the ground; and all his attendants stood by with their clothes torn.
32 But Jonadab son of Shimeah, David’s brother, said, “My lord should not think that they killed all the princes; only Amnon is dead. This has been Absalom’s express intention ever since the day Amnon raped his sister Tamar. 33 My lord the king should not be concerned about the report that all the king’s sons are dead. Only Amnon is dead.”
34 Meanwhile, Absalom had fled.
Now the man standing watch looked up and saw many people on the road west of him, coming down the side of the hill. The watchman went and told the king, “I see men in the direction of Horonaim, on the side of the hill.”[b]
35 Jonadab said to the king, “See, the king’s sons have come; it has happened just as your servant said.”
36 As he finished speaking, the king’s sons came in, wailing loudly. The king, too, and all his attendants wept very bitterly.
37 Absalom fled and went to Talmai(V) son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. But King David mourned many days for his son.
38 After Absalom fled and went to Geshur, he stayed there three years. 39 And King David longed to go to Absalom,(W) for he was consoled(X) concerning Amnon’s death.

13 And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
2 And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do anything to her.
3 But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.
4 And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.
5 And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.
6 So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.
7 Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him meat.
8 So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was laid down. And she took flour, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.
9 And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.
10 And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.
11 And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.
12 And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.
13 And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.
14 Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.
15 Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.
16 And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.
17 Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.
18 And she had a garment of divers colours upon her: for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.
19 And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colours that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying.
20 And Absalom her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.
21 But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.
22 And Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.
23 And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baalhazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons.
24 And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, I beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.
25 And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.
26 Then said Absalom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee?
27 But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.
28 Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.
29 And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled.
30 And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.
31 Then the king arose, and tare his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.
32 And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
33 Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead: for Amnon only is dead.
34 But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him.
35 And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, the king's sons come: as thy servant said, so it is.
36 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.
37 But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.
38 So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.
39 And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.
