Natán reprende a David
12 Entonces el Señor envió a Natán a David(A). Y Natán vino a él(B) y le dijo:
«Había dos hombres en una ciudad, el uno rico, y el otro pobre.
2 -»El rico tenía muchas ovejas y vacas.
3 -»Pero el pobre no tenía más que una corderita
Que él había comprado y criado,
La cual había crecido junto con él y con sus hijos.
Comía de su pan[a], bebía de su copa y dormía en su seno,
Y era como una hija(C) para él.
4 -»Vino un viajero a visitar al hombre rico
Y este no quiso[b] tomar de sus ovejas ni de sus vacas
Para preparar comida para el caminante que había venido a él,
Sino que tomó la corderita de aquel hombre pobre y la preparó para el hombre que había venido a visitarlo».
5 Y se encendió la ira de David en gran manera contra aquel hombre, y dijo a Natán: «Vive el Señor, que ciertamente el hombre que hizo esto merece morir[c](D); 6 y debe pagar cuatro veces(E) por la cordera, porque hizo esto y no tuvo compasión».
7 Entonces Natán dijo a David: «Tú eres aquel hombre(F). Así dice el Señor, Dios de Israel: “Yo te ungí(G) rey sobre Israel y te libré de la mano de Saúl. 8 Yo también entregué a tu cuidado[d] la casa de tu señor y las mujeres de tu señor, y te di la casa de Israel y de Judá(H); y si eso hubiera sido poco, te hubiera añadido muchas cosas como estas. 9 ¿Por qué has despreciado la palabra del Señor haciendo lo malo(I) ante Sus ojos? Has matado[e] a espada a Urías el hitita(J), has tomado su mujer para que sea mujer tuya(K), y a él lo has matado con la espada de los amonitas. 10 Ahora pues, la espada nunca se apartará de tu casa(L), porque me has despreciado y has tomado la mujer de Urías el hitita para que sea tu mujer”.
11 Así dice el Señor: “Por eso, de tu misma casa levantaré el mal contra ti; y aun tomaré tus mujeres delante de tus ojos y las daré a tu compañero, y este se acostará con tus mujeres(M) a plena luz del día[f]. 12 En verdad, tú lo hiciste en secreto(N), pero Yo haré esto delante de todo Israel(O) y a plena luz[g] del sol”». 13 Entonces David dijo a Natán: «He pecado contra el Señor(P)». Y Natán dijo a David: «El Señor ha quitado tu pecado[h]; no morirás(Q). 14 Sin embargo, por cuanto con este hecho has dado ocasión de blasfemar(R) a los enemigos del Señor, ciertamente morirá el niño que te ha nacido». 15 Y Natán regresó a su casa.
Entonces el Señor hirió al niño que la viuda[i] de Urías dio[j] a David, y se puso muy enfermo. 16 David rogó a Dios por el niño; y[k] ayunó(S), y fue y pasó la noche acostado en el suelo(T). 17 Los ancianos de su casa(U) se pusieron a su lado para levantarlo del suelo, pero él no quiso, y no comió con ellos. 18 Sucedió que al séptimo día el niño murió. Los siervos de David temían informarle que el niño había muerto, pues se decían: «Si cuando el niño todavía estaba vivo, le hablábamos y no nos escuchaba[l], ¿cómo, pues, vamos a decirle que el niño ha muerto? Puede hacerse daño». 19 Pero viendo David que sus siervos susurraban entre sí, comprendió[m] que el niño había muerto, y[n] dijo a sus siervos: «¿Ha muerto el niño?». «Ha muerto», respondieron ellos. 20 Entonces David se levantó del suelo, se lavó, se ungió y se cambió de ropa(V); entró en la casa del Señor y adoró(W). Después vino a su casa y cuando pidió, le pusieron comida delante y comió. 21 Así que sus siervos le dijeron: «¿Qué es esto que ha hecho? Mientras[o] el niño vivía, usted ayunaba y lloraba, pero cuando el niño murió, se levantó y comió pan[p]». 22 Y él respondió: «Mientras el niño aún vivía, yo ayunaba y lloraba(X), pues me decía: “¿Quién sabe si el Señor tendrá compasión de mí y el niño viva(Y)?”. 23 Pero ahora que ha muerto, ¿por qué he de ayunar? ¿Podré hacer que vuelva? Yo iré a él(Z), pero él no volverá a mí(AA)».
24 Entonces David consoló a Betsabé su mujer, y vino a ella y se acostó con ella; y ella dio a luz un hijo; y él[q] le puso por nombre Salomón(AB). Y el Señor lo amó, 25 y envió un mensaje por medio[r] del profeta Natán, y le puso el nombre de Jedidías[s], por causa del Señor.
David conquista a Rabá
26 (AC)Joab combatió contra Rabá, ciudad de los amonitas, y conquistó la ciudad real(AD). 27 Entonces Joab envió mensajeros a David que le dijeran: «He combatido contra Rabá, y también he tomado la ciudad de las aguas. 28 Ahora pues, reúna el resto del pueblo y acampe contra la ciudad y tómela, no sea que tome yo la ciudad y sea llamada por mi nombre».
29 David reunió a todo el pueblo y fue a Rabá, y peleó contra ella y la tomó. 30 Quitó la corona de la cabeza de su rey[t], la cual pesaba 34 kilos de oro y tenía una piedra preciosa, y fue puesta[u] sobre la cabeza de David. Y él sacó botín de la ciudad en grandes cantidades(AE). 31 Y la gente que había en ella, la sacó y la puso a trabajar con sierras, con trillos de hierro y con hachas de hierro; también la puso a trabajar en[v] los hornos de ladrillos(AF). Así hizo a todas las ciudades de los amonitas. Entonces regresó David con todo el pueblo a Jerusalén.

Dios reprende a David
12 Entonces, Dios envió al profeta Natán para que le diera a David este mensaje:
«En cierta ciudad había dos hombres. Uno de ellos era rico, y el otro era pobre. 2 El rico tenía muchas ovejas y muchas vacas; 3 en cambio, el pobre sólo tenía una ovejita. La había comprado, y él mismo la había criado y cuidado como si fuera su propia hija. Tanto quería ese hombre a la ovejita que hasta le daba de comer de su mismo plato, y la dejaba recostarse y dormir en su pecho. Y así la ovejita fue creciendo junto con los hijos de ese hombre.
4 »Un día llegó un visitante a la casa del rico, y el rico lo invitó a comer. Pero como no quería matar ninguna de sus ovejas ni de sus vacas, le quitó al pobre su ovejita y la mató para darle de comer a su visitante».
5-6 Al oír esto, David se enojó muchísimo contra el hombre rico y le dijo a Natán:
—¿Pero cómo pudo hacer eso? ¡Ese hombre no tiene sentimientos! Te juro por Dios que ahora tendrá que pagarle al pobre cuatro veces más de lo que vale la ovejita. Y además, ¡merece la muerte!
7-8 Entonces Natán le dijo:
—¡Pues tú, David, eres ese hombre! Y ahora el Dios de Israel quiere que oigas esto:
“Yo te hice rey de todo mi pueblo. Yo te cuidé para que Saúl no te matara. Hasta te di su palacio y sus mujeres, y aun te habría dado mucho más, si tú así lo hubieras querido.
9 ”¿Por qué te burlaste de mí, que soy tu Dios? ¿Por qué hiciste lo que yo prohíbo? En realidad no fueron los amonitas quienes mataron a Urías; lo mataste tú, ¡y lo hiciste para quedarte con su mujer!
10 ”Pero ahora, por haberte burlado de mí, y por haberle quitado a Urías su mujer, siempre habrá en tu familia muertes violentas. 11-12 Tus propios hijos te harán sufrir mucho. Si a escondidas tuviste relaciones sexuales con la mujer de otro, yo haré que otros tomen a tus mujeres y se acuesten con ellas delante de todo el mundo”.
13 David le dijo a Natán:
—Reconozco que he pecado contra Dios, y que he hecho lo que a él no le gusta.
Natán le contestó:
—Por eso mismo Dios te ha perdonado, y no vas a morir. 14 Pero por haberte burlado de él, no vivirá el hijo que tuviste con Betsabé.
15 Después de decir esto, Natán se fue a su casa.
En efecto, Dios hizo que el niño se enfermara gravemente. 16 David no comía nada, y se pasaba toda la noche tirado en el suelo, rogándole a Dios que curara al niño. 17 Sus consejeros le pedían que se levantara del suelo y comiera, pero David se negaba a hacerlo.
18 Al séptimo día, el niño murió. Los consejeros no se atrevían a decirle nada a David, porque pensaban: «Si cuando el niño aún vivía, le pedíamos que comiera y no nos hacía caso, ahora que el niño ya murió, es capaz de hacer una tontería».
19 Pero David se dio cuenta de que sus consejeros le ocultaban algo, y comprendió que su hijo ya había muerto. Entonces dijo:
—Ya murió el niño, ¿verdad?
Y los consejeros le contestaron:
—Sí, ya murió.
20 De inmediato David se levantó del suelo y se bañó, se perfumó y se cambió de ropa. Luego fue a adorar a Dios a la carpa donde estaba el cofre del pacto, y cuando regresó a su casa pidió que le sirvieran de comer, y comió.
21 Sus consejeros le preguntaron:
—¿Por qué hace esto Su Majestad? Cuando el niño aún vivía, usted no comía y lloraba mucho por él, y ahora que ha muerto, ¡usted se levanta y se pone a comer!
22 David les contestó:
—Mientras el niño aún vivía, yo no comía y lloraba porque creía que Dios me tendría compasión y sanaría a mi hijo. 23 Pero ahora que ya ha muerto, ¿qué gano con no comer? No puedo devolverle la vida, ni hacer que vuelva a estar conmigo. Más bien, algún día yo moriré e iré a reunirme con él.
Nacimiento de Salomón
24 David fue a consolar a Betsabé, y tuvo relaciones sexuales con ella. Con el tiempo, ella tuvo un hijo, y David le puso por nombre Salomón. Fue tanto el amor de Dios por el niño, 25 que envió al profeta Natán para que les dijera: «En mi honor, este niño se llamará Jedidías, que significa “Amado de Dios”».
David vence a los amonitas (1 Cr 20.1-3)
26 Mientras tanto, Joab había seguido atacando la ciudad de Rabá, pues allí vivía el rey de los amonitas. Cuando ya estaba por conquistarla, 27 mandó a decirle a David:
«Después de muchos días de atacar a Rabá, no he permitido que sus habitantes tengan paso a sus depósitos de agua. Ya estamos por entrar en la ciudad, 28 así que reúna Su Majestad a todo su ejército y venga a tomar la ciudad; de lo contrario, yo tendría que tomarla y le pondría mi nombre».
29 Entonces David reunió a todo su ejército, y atacó y conquistó la ciudad de Rabá. 30 David le quitó al rey la corona, la cual era de oro, pesaba treinta y tres kilos, y tenía una piedra preciosa. David le quitó a la corona esa piedra preciosa y la puso en su propia corona, y se llevó además gran parte de las riquezas de la ciudad. 31 A la gente que vivía en la ciudad la sacó de allí y la condenó a trabajos forzados. La obligó a usar sierras, picos y hachas de hierro. También la obligó a hacer ladrillos, como lo había hecho con todas las ciudades amonitas que había conquistado. Después de eso, David y su ejército regresaron a Jerusalén.

Nathan Rebukes David(A)
12 The Lord sent Nathan(B) to David.(C) When he came to him,(D) he said, “There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. 2 The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, 3 but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.
4 “Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.”
5 David(E) burned with anger(F) against the man(G) and said to Nathan, “As surely as the Lord lives,(H) the man who did this must die! 6 He must pay for that lamb four times over,(I) because he did such a thing and had no pity.”
7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!(J) This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed(K) you(L) king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. 8 I gave your master’s house to you,(M) and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more. 9 Why did you despise(N) the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down(O) Uriah(P) the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed(Q) him with the sword of the Ammonites. 10 Now, therefore, the sword(R) will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’
11 “This is what the Lord says: ‘Out of your own household(S) I am going to bring calamity on you.(T) Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight.(U) 12 You did it in secret,(V) but I will do this thing in broad daylight(W) before all Israel.’”
13 Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned(X) against the Lord.”
Nathan replied, “The Lord has taken away(Y) your sin.(Z) You are not going to die.(AA) 14 But because by doing this you have shown utter contempt for[a] the Lord,(AB) the son born to you will die.”
15 After Nathan had gone home, the Lord struck(AC) the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill. 16 David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and spent the nights lying(AD) in sackcloth[b] on the ground. 17 The elders of his household stood beside him to get him up from the ground, but he refused,(AE) and he would not eat any food with them.(AF)
18 On the seventh day the child died. David’s attendants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they thought, “While the child was still living, he wouldn’t listen to us when we spoke to him. How can we now tell him the child is dead? He may do something desperate.”
19 David noticed that his attendants were whispering among themselves, and he realized the child was dead. “Is the child dead?” he asked.
“Yes,” they replied, “he is dead.”
20 Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed,(AG) put on lotions and changed his clothes,(AH) he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.
21 His attendants asked him, “Why are you acting this way? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept,(AI) but now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!”
22 He answered, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, ‘Who knows?(AJ) The Lord may be gracious to me and let the child live.’(AK) 23 But now that he is dead, why should I go on fasting? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him,(AL) but he will not return to me.”(AM)
24 Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba,(AN) and he went to her and made love to her. She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon.(AO) The Lord loved him; 25 and because the Lord loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah.[c](AP)
26 Meanwhile Joab fought against Rabbah(AQ) of the Ammonites and captured the royal citadel. 27 Joab then sent messengers to David, saying, “I have fought against Rabbah and taken its water supply. 28 Now muster the rest of the troops and besiege the city and capture it. Otherwise I will take the city, and it will be named after me.”
29 So David mustered the entire army and went to Rabbah, and attacked and captured it. 30 David took the crown(AR) from their king’s[d] head, and it was placed on his own head. It weighed a talent[e] of gold, and it was set with precious stones. David took a great quantity of plunder from the city 31 and brought out the people who were there, consigning them to labor with saws and with iron picks and axes, and he made them work at brickmaking.[f] David did this to all the Ammonite(AS) towns. Then he and his entire army returned to Jerusalem.

3 а сиромахът нямаше друго освен едно малко женско агне, което бе купил и което хранеше; а то бе пораснало заедно с него и чадата му, от залъка му ядеше, от чашата му пиеше, и на пазухата му лежеше; и то ме беше като дъщеря.
4 И един пътник дойде у богатия; и нему се посвидя да вземе своите овци и от своите говеда да сготви за пътника, който бе дошъл у него, но взе агнето на сиромаха та го сготви за човека, който бе дошъл у него.
5 Тогава гневът на Давида пламна силно против тоя човек; и той каза на Натана: В името на живия Господ, човекът, който е сторил това, заслужава смърт;
6 и ще плати за агнето четверократно, понеже е сторил това дело, и понеже не се е смирил.

18 И на седмия ден детето умря. И слугите на Давида се бояха да му явят, че детето бе умряло, защото думаха: Ето, докато детето бе още живо говорехме му, и той не слушаше думите ни; колко, прочее, ще се измъчва, ако му кажем, че детето е умряло!
19 Но Давид, като видя че слугите му шепнеха помежду си, разбра, че бе умряло детето; затова Давид каза на слугите си: Умря ли детето? А те рекоха: Умря.
20 Тогава Давид стана от земята, уми се и се помаза, и като промени дрехите си, влезе в Господния дом та се помоли. После дойде у дома си; и, понеже поиска, сложиха пред него хляб, и той яде.
21 А слугите му му казаха: Що е това, което ти стори? Ти пости и плака за детето, докато беше живо; а като умря детето, ти стана и яде хляб!
22 А той рече: Докато детето беше още живо, постих и плаках, защото си рекох: Кой знае? може Бог да ми покаже милост, и детето да остане живо.
23 Но сега то умря. Защо да постя? Мога ли да го върна надире? Аз ще ида при него, а то няма да се върне при мене.

26 А Иоав воюва против Рава на амонците и превзе царския град.

28 Сега, прочее, събери останалите люде та разположи стана си против града и завладей го, да не би аз да завладея града, и той да се нарече с моето име.
29 Затова Давид събра всичките люде та отиде в Рава, би се против нея, и я завладя.
30 И взе от главата на царя им короната му, която тежеше един златен талант, и бе украсена със скъпоценни камъни; и положиха я на главата на Давида. И той изнесе из града твърде много користи.

2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
3 But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
5 And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the Lord liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:
6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
11 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
15 And Nathan departed unto his house. And the Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
16 David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.
17 And the elders of his house arose, and went to him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.
18 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?
19 But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.
20 Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the Lord, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.
21 Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.
22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may live?
23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
24 And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the Lord loved him.
25 And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the Lord.
26 And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
27 And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, and have taken the city of waters.
28 Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.
29 And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
30 And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.
31 And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
