Cântarea de jale a lui David pentru Saul şi Ionatan
17 Iată cântarea de jale pe care a alcătuit-o David pentru Saul şi fiul său Ionatan 18 şi pe care a poruncit s-o înveţe copiii lui Iuda. Este numită Cântarea Arcului şi se află scrisă în Cartea(A) Dreptului.
19 „Fala ta, Israele, zace ucisă pe dealurile tale!
Cum(B) au căzut vitejii!

David’s Lament for Saul and Jonathan
17 David took up this lament(A) concerning Saul and his son Jonathan,(B) 18 and he ordered that the people of Judah be taught this lament of the bow (it is written in the Book of Jashar):(C)

David's Lament for Saul and Jonathan
17 And David (A)lamented with this lamentation over Saul and Jonathan his son, 18 and he said it[a] should be taught to the people of Judah; behold, it is written in (B)the Book of Jashar.[b] He said:
19 “Your glory, O Israel, is slain on your high places!
(C)How the mighty have fallen!
