12 Lloraron, se lamentaron y ayunaron hasta la noche, por Saúl y por su hijo Jonatán, por el pueblo de Jehová y por la casa de Israel, pues habían caído al filo de la espada. 13 David preguntó luego a aquel joven que le había traído la noticia:
—¿De dónde eres tú?
—Soy hijo de un extranjero, amalecita —respondió él.
14 —¿Cómo no tuviste temor de extender tu mano para matar al ungido de Jehová? —le dijo David.

12 They mourned and wept and fasted till evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the army of the Lord and for the nation of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.
13 David said to the young man who brought him the report, “Where are you from?”
“I am the son of a foreigner, an Amalekite,(A)” he answered.
14 David asked him, “Why weren’t you afraid to lift your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed?(B)”
