⁷ David brought the gold shields of Hadadezer’s officers to Jerusalem,

¹⁵ King Solomon made 200 large shields of hammered gold, each weighing more than 15 pounds.^{[a] 16} He also made 300 smaller shields of hammered gold, each weighing more than 7 1⁄2 pounds.^[b] The king placed these shields in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon.

²⁶ He ransacked the treasuries of the Lord’s Temple and the royal palace; he stole everything, including all the gold shields Solomon had made. ²⁷ King Rehoboam later replaced them with bronze shields as substitutes, and he entrusted them to the care of the commanders of the guard who protected the entrance to the royal palace.
