⁶ For I have not dwelt in a house ^(A)since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day, but have moved about in ^(B)a tent and in a tabernacle.

¹⁶ ‘Since the day that I brought My people Israel out of Egypt, I have chosen no city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house, that ^(A)My name might be there; but I chose ^(B)David to be over My people Israel.’

The Remainder of the Land Divided

18 Now the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together ^(A)at Shiloh, and ^(B)set up the tabernacle of meeting there. And the land was subdued before them.

¹⁸ So Moses raised up the tabernacle, fastened its sockets, set up its boards, put in its bars, and raised up its pillars. ¹⁹ And he spread out the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent on top of it, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

The Loveless Church

2 “To the ^[a]angel of the church of Ephesus write,

‘These things says ^(A)He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, ^(B)who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:

¹⁶ And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For ^(A)you^[a] are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

God’s True Tabernacle

⁴⁴ “Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He appointed, instructing Moses ^(A)to make it according to the pattern that he had seen,

⁵ For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought up Israel, even to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another. ⁶ Wherever I have moved about with all Israel, have I ever spoken a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd My people, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’ ” ’

¹⁴ For the Lord your God ^(A)walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.

³³ So they departed from ^(A)the mountain of the Lord on a journey of three days; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord ^(B)went before them for the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them. ³⁴ And ^(C)the cloud of the Lord was above them by day when they went out from the camp.

³⁵ So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said:
