³ Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that you have in mind, for the Lord is with you.”^(A)

⁷ David said to Solomon, “My son, I had planned to build a house to the name of the Lord my God.^(A)

¹⁷ My father David had it in mind to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.^{(A) 18} But the Lord said to my father David, ‘You did well to consider building a house for my name;

² Then King David rose to his feet and said, “Hear me, my brothers and my people. I had planned to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, for the footstool of our God, and I made preparations for building.^(A)

²⁷ When she came to the man of God at the mountain, she caught hold of his feet. Gehazi approached to push her away, but the man of God said, “Let her alone, for she is in bitter distress; the Lord has hidden it from me and has not told me.”

⁷ But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him, for the Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”^(A)

²⁷ As for you, the anointing that you received from him abides in you, so you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, abide in him.^[a](A)

⁷ Now when these signs meet you, do whatever you see fit to do, for God is with you.^(A)
