^12 (A)“When your days are fulfilled and you ^(B)rest with your fathers, ^(C)I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

³⁰ Therefore, being a prophet, ^(A)and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, ^[a]according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,

²⁰ So the Lord has fulfilled His word which He spoke; and I have ^[a]filled the position of my father David, and sit on the throne of Israel, ^(A)as the Lord promised; and I have built a temple for the name of the Lord God of Israel.

David’s Instructions to Solomon

2 Now ^(A)the days of David drew near that he should die, and he ^[a]charged Solomon his son, saying:

³⁶ “For David, after he had served ^[a]his own generation by the will of God, ^(A)fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and ^[b]saw corruption;

¹¹ And it shall be, when your days are ^(A)fulfilled, when you must ^[a]go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your ^(B)seed after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

¹⁶ And the Lord said to Moses: “Behold, you will ^[a]rest with your fathers; and this people will ^(A)rise and ^(B)play the harlot with the gods of the foreigners of the land, where they go to be among them, and they will ^(C)forsake Me and ^(D)break My covenant which I have made with them.

¹⁴ For ^(A)if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him ^(B)those who ^[a]sleep in Jesus.
