^11 (A)since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the Lord ^[a]tells you ^(B)that He will make you a ^[b]house.

²⁷ For You, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You.

God’s Covenant with David^(A)

7 Now it came to pass ^(B)when the king was dwelling in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies all around,

¹⁰ since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel. Also I will subdue all your enemies. Furthermore I tell you that the Lord will build you a ^[a]house.

⁹ And when they ^(A)forgot the Lord their God, He sold them into the hand of ^(B)Sisera, commander of the army of Hazor, into the hand of the ^(C)Philistines, and into the hand of the king of ^(D)Moab; and they fought against them. ¹⁰ Then they cried out to the Lord, and said, ^(E)‘We have sinned, because we have forsaken the Lord ^(F)and served the Baals and ^[a]Ashtoreths; but now deliver us from the hand of our enemies, and we will serve You.’ ¹¹ And the Lord sent ^[b]Jerubbaal, ^[c]Bedan, ^(G)Jephthah, and ^(H)Samuel,^[d] and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side; and you dwelt in safety.

^14 (A)And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel. So He ^(B)delivered them into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them; and ^(C)He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they ^(D)could no longer stand before their enemies. ¹⁵ Wherever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for calamity, as the Lord had said, and as the Lord had ^(E)sworn to them. And they were greatly distressed.

¹⁶ Nevertheless, ^(F)the Lord raised up judges who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them.

³⁸ Then it shall be, if you heed all that I command you, walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as My servant David did, then ^(A)I will be with you and ^(B)build for you an enduring house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.
