¹⁸ And when David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, ^(A)he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts.

⁵⁵ Then he stood ^(A)and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying:

The King of Righteousness^(A)

7 For this ^(B)Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, ² to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,” ³ without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.

⁴ Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the ^[a]spoils. ⁵ And indeed ^(C)those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham; ⁶ but he whose genealogy is not derived from them received tithes from Abraham ^(D)and blessed ^(E)him who had the promises. ⁷ Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better.

²⁶ To you ^(A)first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, ^(B)in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”

²⁷ Then the priests, the Levites, arose and ^(A)blessed the people, and their voice was heard; and their prayer came up to ^(B)His holy dwelling place, to heaven.

¹⁸ For a multitude of the people, ^(A)many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, ^(B)yet they ate the Passover contrary to what was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, “May the good Lord provide atonement for everyone ¹⁹ who ^(C)prepares his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he is not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.”
