⁹ Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it ^(A)the City of David. And David built all around from ^[a]the Millo and inward.

²⁴ But ^(A)Pharaoh’s daughter came up from the City of David to ^(B)her house which ^[a]Solomon had built for her. ^(C)Then he built the Millo.

Solomon’s Additional Achievements^(A)

¹⁵ And this is the reason for ^(B)the labor force which King Solomon raised: to build the house of the Lord, his own house, ^[a]the ^(C)Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, ^(D)Hazor, ^(E)Megiddo, and ^(F)Gezer.

⁵ And ^(A)he strengthened himself, ^(B)built up all the wall that was broken, raised it up to the towers, and built another wall outside; also he repaired ^[a]the ^(C)Millo in the City of David, and made ^[b]weapons and shields in abundance.

²⁷ And this is what caused him to rebel against the king: ^(A)Solomon had built the Millo and ^[a]repaired the damages to the City of David his father.

⁷ Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion ^(A)(that is, the City of David).

⁸ And he built the city around it, from ^[a]the Millo to the surrounding area. Joab ^[b]repaired the rest of the city.

²⁰ But if not, ^(A)let fire come from Abimelech and devour the men of Shechem and Beth Millo; and let fire come from the men of Shechem and from Beth Millo and devour Abimelech!”

⁶ And all the men of Shechem gathered together, all of Beth Millo, and they went and made Abimelech king beside the terebinth tree at the pillar that was in Shechem.
