¹³ And ^(A)David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron. Also more sons and daughters were born to David.

⁹ These were all the sons of David, besides the sons of the concubines, and ^(A)Tamar their sister.

¹⁷ Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and ^(A)gold for himself.

²¹ But Abijah grew mighty, married fourteen wives, and begot twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.

The Family of Rehoboam

¹⁸ Then Rehoboam took for himself as wife Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of ^(A)Eliah the son of Jesse. ¹⁹ And she bore him children: Jeush, Shamariah, and Zaham. ²⁰ After her he took ^(B)Maachah the ^[a]granddaughter of ^(C)Absalom; and she bore him ^(D)Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith. ²¹ Now Rehoboam loved Maachah the granddaughter of Absalom more than all his ^(E)wives and his concubines; for he took eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and begot twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.

³ Then David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters. ⁴ And ^(A)these are the names of his children whom he had in Jerusalem: ^[a]Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, ⁵ Ibhar, ^[b]Elishua, ^[c]Elpelet, ⁶ Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, ⁷ Elishama, ^[d]Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

⁵ And ^(A)Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac. ⁶ But Abraham gave gifts to the sons of the concubines which Abraham had; and while he was still living he ^(B)sent them eastward, away from Isaac his son, to ^(C)the country of the east.
