¹² So David gave an order to his men, and they killed them.^(A) They cut off their hands and feet and hung the bodies by the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-Bosheth and buried it in Abner’s tomb at Hebron.

³² They buried Abner in Hebron, and the king wept^(A) aloud at Abner’s tomb. All the people wept also.

¹⁵ Then David called one of his men and said, “Go, strike him down!”^(A) So he struck him down, and he died.^(B)

² For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.^(A)

⁹ He handed them over to the Gibeonites, who killed them and exposed their bodies on a hill before the Lord. All seven of them fell together; they were put to death^(A) during the first days of the harvest, just as the barley harvest was beginning.^(B)

Various Laws

²² If someone guilty of a capital offense^(A) is put to death and their body is exposed on a pole, ²³ you must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight.^(B) Be sure to bury^(C) it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse.^(D) You must not desecrate^(E) the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.
