⁶ Then they came to Gilead and to Kadesh in the land of the Hittites,^[a] and they came to Dan, and from Dan^[b] they went around to Sidon^(A)

²⁸ Ebron, Rehob, Hammon, Kanah, as far as Great Sidon;^(A)

²⁸ There was no deliverer because it was far from Sidon, and they had no dealings with Aram.^[a] It was in the valley that belongs to Beth-rehob. They rebuilt the city and lived in it.^{(A) 29} They named the city Dan after their ancestor Dan, who was born to Israel, but the name of the city was formerly Laish.^(B)

³¹ Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of Acco or the inhabitants of Sidon, or of Mahalab,^[a] or of Achzib, or of Helbah, or of Aphik, or of Rehob,^(A)

⁴⁷ When the territory of the Danites was lost to them, the Danites went up and fought against Leshem, and after capturing it and putting it to the sword, they took possession of it and settled in it, calling Leshem Dan, after their ancestor Dan.^(A)

⁸ And the Lord handed them over to Israel, who attacked them and chased them as far as Great Sidon and Misrephoth-maim and eastward as far as the valley of Mizpeh. They struck them down until they had left no one remaining.^(A)

³⁹ The descendants of Machir son of Manasseh went to Gilead, captured it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were there,

32 Now the Reubenites and the Gadites owned a very great number of cattle. When they saw that the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead was a good place for cattle,^(A)

⁴⁷ Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha,^[a] but Jacob called it Galeed.^{[b] 48} Laban said, “This heap is a witness between you and me today.” Therefore he called it Galeed^(A)

²¹ So he fled with all that he had; starting out he crossed the Euphrates^[a] and set his face toward the hill country of Gilead.^(A)
