⁴ he is like the light^(A) of morning^(B) at sunrise^(C)
    on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain^(D)
    that brings grass from the earth.’

³¹ “So may all your enemies perish,^(A) Lord!
    But may all who love you be like the sun^(B)
    when it rises in its strength.”^(C)

⁶ May he be like rain^(A) falling on a mown field,
    like showers watering the earth.

⁵ Therefore I cut you in pieces with my prophets,
    I killed you with the words of my mouth^(A)—
    then my judgments go forth like the sun.^[a](B)

³⁶ that his line will continue forever
    and his throne endure before me like the sun;^(A)

⁷⁸ because of the tender mercy of our God,
    by which the rising sun^(A) will come to us from heaven
⁷⁹ to shine on those living in darkness
    and in the shadow of death,^(B)
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”^(C)

⁷ The remnant^(A) of Jacob will be
    in the midst of many peoples
like dew^(B) from the Lord,
    like showers on the grass,^(C)
which do not wait for anyone
    or depend on man.
