David Avenges the Gibeonites

21 Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. And David ^(A)sought the face of the Lord. And the Lord said, “There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”

^2 (A)For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and ^(B)with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

²⁶ And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall ^(A)be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come ^(B)shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. ^(C)Its^[a] end shall come with a flood, ^(D)and to the end there shall be war. ^(E)Desolations are decreed.

²⁴ For Haman the Agagite, the son of Hammedatha, ^(A)the enemy of all the Jews, ^(B)had plotted against the Jews to destroy them, and ^(C)had cast Pur (that is, cast lots), to crush and to destroy them. ²⁵ But when it came before the king, he gave orders in writing ^(D)that his evil plan that he had devised against the Jews ^(E)should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.
