² So David went up there, and his ^(A)two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite.

⁴² So Abigail rose in haste and rode on a donkey, ^[a]attended by five of her maidens; and she followed the messengers of David, and became his wife. ⁴³ David also took Ahinoam ^(A)of Jezreel, ^(B)and so both of them were his wives.

⁵ And David’s two ^(A)wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive.
