Israel and Judah at War

¹² Now Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to ^(A)Gibeon.

^25 (A)Gibeon, ^(B)Ramah, Beeroth,

⁴ “Come up to me and help me, that we may attack Gibeon, for ^(A)it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.”

² that they ^(A)feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.

³ But when the inhabitants of ^(A)Gibeon ^(B)heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai,

¹⁴ So Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The advice of Hushai the Archite is better than the advice of Ahithophel.” For ^(A)the Lord had purposed to defeat the good advice of Ahithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring disaster on Absalom.

¹² Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel:

² When Jacob saw them, he said, “This is God’s ^(A)camp.” And he called the name of that place ^[a]Mahanaim.
