²⁷ And he has slandered your servant to my lord the king. My lord the king is like an angel^(A) of God; so do whatever you wish.

²⁰ Your servant Joab did this to change the present situation. My lord has wisdom^(A) like that of an angel of God—he knows everything that happens in the land.^(B)”

¹⁷ “And now your servant says, ‘May the word of my lord the king secure my inheritance, for my lord the king is like an angel^(A) of God in discerning^(B) good and evil. May the Lord your God be with you.’”

³ The king then asked, “Where is your master’s grandson?”^(A)

Ziba^(B) said to him, “He is staying in Jerusalem, because he thinks, ‘Today the Israelites will restore to me my grandfather’s kingdom.’”

⁹ Achish answered, “I know that you have been as pleasing in my eyes as an angel^(A) of God; nevertheless, the Philistine commanders^(B) have said, ‘He must not go up with us into battle.’
