² I will come upon him while he is ^(A)weary and weak, and make him ^[a]afraid. And all the people who are with him will flee, and I will ^(B)strike only the king.

³¹ Now the ^(A)king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two ^(B)captains of his chariots, saying, “Fight with no one small or great, but only with the king of Israel.”

¹⁴ Now the king and all the people who were with him became weary; so they refreshed themselves there.

^50 (A)nor do you consider that it is expedient for ^[a]us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.”

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial^(A)

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, ^(B)“All of you will ^(C)be ^[a]made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:

³⁸ But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, ^(A)‘This is the heir. ^(B)Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’

¹⁸ how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he ^(A)did not fear God.

⁴ Jesus therefore, ^(A)knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, “Whom are you seeking?”

⁵ They answered Him, ^(B)“Jesus ^[a]of Nazareth.”

Jesus said to them, “I am He.” And Judas, who ^(C)betrayed Him, also stood with them. ⁶ Now when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

⁷ Then He asked them again, “Whom are you seeking?”

And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

⁸ Jesus answered, “I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,”
