¹⁶ And so it was, when Hushai the Archite, ^(A)David’s friend, came to Absalom, that ^(B)Hushai said to Absalom, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”

¹² And he brought out the king’s son, put the crown on him, and gave him the ^(A)Testimony;^[a] they made him king and anointed him, and they clapped their hands and said, ^(B)“Long live the king!”

²⁴ And Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see him ^(A)whom the Lord has chosen, that there is no one like him among all the people?”

So all the people shouted and said, ^(B)“Long^[a] live the king!”

^25 (A)For he has gone down today, and has sacrificed oxen and fattened cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king’s sons, and the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the priest; and look! They are eating and drinking before him; and they say, ^(B)‘Long^[a] live King Adonijah!’

⁹ Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:

²¹ Then Daniel said to the king, ^(A)“O king, live forever!

⁶ So these governors and satraps thronged before the king, and said thus to him: ^(A)“King Darius, live forever!

¹⁰ The queen, because of the words of the king and his lords, came to the banquet hall. The queen spoke, saying, “O king, live forever! Do not let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your countenance change.

⁴ Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic, ^(A)“O^[a] king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation.”

³⁴ There let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet ^(A)anoint him king over Israel; and ^(B)blow the horn, and say, ^[a]‘Long live King Solomon!’
