²¹ But Ittai answered the king, ^(A)“As the Lord lives, and as my lord the king lives, ^(B)wherever my lord the king shall be, whether for death or for life, there also will your servant be.”

¹⁶ But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. ^(A)Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. ¹⁷ Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. ^(B)May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.”

³⁰ Then the mother of the child said, ^(A)“As the Lord lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So he arose and followed her.

³ I do not say this to condemn you, for I said before that ^(A)you are in our hearts, to die together and to live together.

¹³ Then Paul answered, ^(A)“What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For ^(B)I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem ^(C)for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

²³ When he came and saw ^(A)the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord ^(B)with steadfast purpose,

^66 (A)After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. ⁶⁷ So Jesus said to ^(B)the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” ⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have ^(C)the words of eternal life, ⁶⁹ and ^(D)we have believed, and have come to know, that ^(E)you are ^(F)the Holy One of God.”

^19 (A)And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” ²⁰ And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
