²³ And it came to pass, after two full years, that Absalom ^(A)had sheepshearers in Baal Hazor, which is near Ephraim; so Absalom invited all the king’s sons.

⁴ When David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was ^(A)shearing his sheep,

¹² Now in the process of time the daughter of Shua, Judah’s wife, died; and Judah ^(A)was comforted, and went up to his sheepshearers at Timnah, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite. ¹³ And it was told Tamar, saying, “Look, your father-in-law is going up ^(B)to Timnah to shear his sheep.”

¹⁰ Also he built towers in the desert. He dug many wells, for he had much livestock, both in the lowlands and in the plains; he also had farmers and vinedressers in the mountains and in ^[a]Carmel, for he loved the soil.

⁹ And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fattened cattle by the stone of ^[a]Zoheleth, which is by ^(A)En Rogel;^[b] he also invited all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants.

³⁶ Now Abigail went to Nabal, and there he was, ^(A)holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk; therefore she told him nothing, little or much, until morning light.

⁷ Now I have heard that you have shearers. Your shepherds were with us, and we did not hurt them, ^(A)nor was there anything missing from them all the while they were in Carmel.
