⁷ Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I ^(A)anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.

¹⁴ And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He ^(A)was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

Praise for God’s Deliverance^(A)

22 Then David ^(B)spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on the day when the Lord had ^(C)delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.

¹³ Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and ^(A)the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

⁴² Then he said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ^(A)‘Because you have let slip out of your hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.’ ”

¹⁸ And he answered, “I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have, ^(A)in that you have forsaken the commandments of the Lord and have followed the Baals.

⁸ Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: ^(A)“I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.

²⁶ Then Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. ^(A)So David made haste to get away from Saul, for Saul and his men ^(B)were encircling David and his men to take them.

^27 (C)But a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have invaded the land!” ²⁸ Therefore Saul returned from pursuing David, and went against the Philistines; so they called that place ^[a]the Rock of Escape.

David in Wilderness Strongholds

¹⁴ And David stayed in strongholds in the wilderness, and remained in ^(A)the mountains in the Wilderness of ^(B)Ziph. Saul ^(C)sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.
