¹⁹ And when all the kings who were servants of Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with Israel ^(A)and became subject to them. So the Syrians were afraid to save the Ammonites anymore.

⁶ Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Syrians ^(A)became servants to David and brought tribute. ^(B)And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.

^10 (A)They will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,

³⁷ You, O king, ^(A)the king of kings, to whom ^(B)the God of heaven ^(C)has given the kingdom, the power, and the might, and the glory,

Ahab's Wars with Syria

20 ^(A)Ben-hadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together. ^(B)Thirty-two kings were with him, and horses and chariots. And he went up and closed in on ^(C)Samaria and fought against it.

⁷ And Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off ^(A)used to pick up scraps under my table. ^(B)As I have done, so God has repaid me.” And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
