¹⁰ So I stood beside him and killed him, because I was sure that he could not live after he had fallen. ^(A)And I took the crown that was on his head and the armlet that was on his arm, and I have brought them here to my lord.”

^2 (A)For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and ^(B)with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

^54 (A)Then he called quickly to the young man his armor-bearer and said to him, “Draw your sword and kill me, lest they say of me, ‘A woman killed him.’” And his young man thrust him through, and he died.

¹² Then he brought out the king's son and put ^(A)the crown on him and gave him ^(B)the testimony. And they proclaimed him king and anointed him, and they clapped their hands and said, ^(C)“Long live the king!”

³⁰ And he took the crown of their king from his head. The weight of it was a talent^[a] of gold, and in it was a precious stone, and it was placed on David's head. And he brought out the spoil of the city, a very great amount.

^4 (A)Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these ^(B)uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and mistreat me.” But his armor-bearer would not, ^(C)for he feared greatly. Therefore Saul took his own sword ^(D)and fell upon it. ⁵ And when his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell upon his sword and died with him.

¹⁸ Then the king said to Doeg, “You turn and strike the priests.” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests, ^(A)and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod.

⁷ And Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off ^(A)used to pick up scraps under my table. ^(B)As I have done, so God has repaid me.” And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
