¹⁰ “So I stood beside him and killed him, because I knew that after he had fallen he could not survive. And I took the crown^(A) that was on his head and the band on his arm and have brought them here to my lord.”

⁵⁴ Hurriedly he called to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and kill me,^(A) so that they can’t say, ‘A woman killed him.’” So his servant ran him through, and he died.

² For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.^(A)

¹² Jehoiada brought out the king’s son and put the crown on him; he presented him with a copy of the covenant^(A) and proclaimed him king. They anointed^(B) him, and the people clapped their hands^(C) and shouted, “Long live the king!”^(D)

³⁰ David took the crown^(A) from their king’s^[a] head, and it was placed on his own head. It weighed a talent^[b] of gold, and it was set with precious stones. David took a great quantity of plunder from the city

⁴ Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through,^(A) or these uncircumcised^(B) fellows will come and run me through and abuse me.”

But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it. ⁵ When the armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his sword and died with him.

¹⁸ The king then ordered Doeg, “You turn and strike down the priests.”^(A) So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck them down. That day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.^(B)

⁷ Then Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off have picked up scraps under my table. Now God has paid me back^(A) for what I did to them.” They brought him to Jerusalem,^(B) and he died there.
