13 O novo rei de Israel foi Salum. O seu pai era Jabes e o seu reinado durou um mês. Em Judá, Uzias, também chamado Azarias, era nessa altura rei havia 39 anos. 14 Um mês depois de Salum ter ascendido ao trono, Menaem, filho de Gadi, veio de Tirza a Samaria e assassinou-o, ocupando o trono em seu lugar. 15 Outros detalhes acerca de Salum e dessa conspiração estão escritos no Livro das Crónicas dos Reis de Israel.

Shallum Reigns over Israel
13 Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the thirty-ninth year of Uzzi′ah king of Judah, and he reigned one month in Samar′ia. 14 Then Men′ahem the son of Gadi came up from Tirzah and came to Samar′ia, and he struck down Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samar′ia and slew him, and reigned in his stead. 15 Now the rest of the deeds of Shallum, and the conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
