Regno di Acaz in Giuda (736-716)
16 Nell'anno diciassette di Pekach figlio di Romelia, divenne re Acaz figlio di Iotam, re di Giuda. 2 Quando divenne re, aveva vent'anni; regnò sedici anni in Gerusalemme. Non fece ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore suo Dio, come Davide suo antenato. 3 Camminò sulla strada dei re di Israele; fece perfino passare per il fuoco suo figlio, secondo gli abomini dei popoli che il Signore aveva scacciati di fronte agli Israeliti. 4 Sacrificava e bruciava incenso sulle alture, sui colli e sotto ogni albero verde.
5 In quel tempo marciarono contro Gerusalemme Rezin re di Aram, e Pekach figlio di Romelia, re di Israele; l'assediarono, ma non riuscirono a espugnarla. 6 Ma il re di Edom approfittò di quella occasione per riconquistare Elat e unirla al suo regno; ne scacciò i Giudei e tornarono ad abitarvi gli Idumei fino ad oggi.
7 Acaz mandò messaggeri a Tiglat-Pilèzer re di Assiria, per dirgli: «Io sono tuo servo e tuo figlio; vieni, liberami dalla mano del re di Aram e dalla mano del re di Israele, che sono insorti contro di me». 8 Acaz, preso l'argento e l'oro che si trovava nel tempio e nei tesori della reggia, lo mandò in dono al re di Assiria. 9 Il re di Assur lo ascoltò e assalì Damasco e la prese, ne deportò la popolazione a Kir e uccise Rezin.
10 Il re Acaz andò incontro a Tiglat-Pilèzer re di Assiria in Damasco e, visto l'altare che si trovava in Damasco, il re Acaz mandò al sacerdote Uria il disegno dell'altare e il suo piano secondo il lavoro. 11 Il sacerdote Uria costruì l'altare, prima che il re Acaz tornasse da Damasco, facendolo proprio identico a quello che il re Acaz gli aveva mandato da Damasco. 12 Tornato da Damasco, il re vide l'altare, vi si avvicinò, vi salì, 13 vi bruciò l'olocausto e l'offerta, vi versò la libazione e vi sparse il sangue dei sacrifici di comunione collocati sull'altare. 14 Separò l'altare di bronzo, che era di fronte al Signore, dalla fronte del tempio, ossia dal punto fra l'altare e il tempio, e lo pose al fianco del nuovo altare verso settentrione. 15 Il re Acaz ordinò al sacerdote Uria: «Sull'altare grande brucerai l'olocausto del mattino, l'offerta della sera, l'olocausto del re e la sua offerta, l'olocausto di tutto il popolo del paese, la sua offerta e le sue libazioni, vi verserai sopra tutto il sangue dell'olocausto e tutto il sangue dei sacrifici di comunione; circa l'altare di bronzo io deciderò». 16 Il sacerdote Uria eseguì a puntino l'ordine di Acaz.
17 Il re Acaz smontò le basi, da cui rimosse le doghe e tolse i bacini. Fece scendere il grande bacino dai buoi di bronzo che lo sostenevano e lo collocò sul pavimento di pietre. 18 In considerazione del re d'Assiria egli eliminò anche il portico del sabato, che era stato costruito nel tempio, e l'ingresso esterno del re.
19 Le altre gesta di Acaz, le sue azioni, ecco, sono descritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda. 20 Acaz si addormentò con i suoi padri; fu sepolto nella città di Davide e al suo posto divenne re suo figlio Ezechia.

16 En el año diecisiete de Peka, hijo de Remalías, comenzó a reinar Acaz, hijo de Jotam, rey de Judá(A). 2 (B)Acaz tenía veinte años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén; pero no hizo lo recto ante los ojos del Señor su Dios como su padre David había hecho. 3 Anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y aun hizo pasar a su hijo por el fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de las naciones que el Señor había arrojado(C) de delante de los israelitas(D). 4 Y sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos(E), en las colinas y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.
5 Entonces Rezín, rey de Aram, y Peka, hijo de Remalías(F), rey de Israel, subieron a Jerusalén para hacer guerra y sitiaron a Acaz; pero no lo podían vencer(G). 6 En aquel tiempo Rezín, rey de Aram, recuperó a Elat(H) para Aram, y echó a los judíos de Elat[a] completamente; y los arameos vinieron a Elat y allí han morado hasta hoy.
7 Acaz envió mensajeros(I) a Tiglat Pileser, rey de Asiria(J), diciéndole: «Yo soy tu siervo y tu hijo; sube y líbrame de la mano del rey de Aram y de la mano del rey de Israel que se han levantado contra mí». 8 Acaz tomó la plata y el oro que se hallaba en la casa del Señor y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y envió un presente al rey de Asiria(K). 9 El rey de Asiria lo escuchó(L), y el rey de Asiria subió contra Damasco y la tomó(M), y se llevó a su pueblo al destierro en Kir(N), y dio muerte a Rezín.
10 El rey Acaz fue a Damasco a ver a Tiglat Pileser, rey de Asiria(O), y vio el altar que estaba en Damasco; y el rey Acaz envió al sacerdote(P) Urías el diseño del altar y su réplica, conforme a toda su hechura. 11 Y el sacerdote Urías edificó un altar; conforme a todo lo que el rey Acaz había enviado de Damasco, así lo hizo el sacerdote Urías antes del regreso del rey Acaz de Damasco. 12 Cuando vino el rey de Damasco y vio el altar, el rey se acercó al altar y subió hasta[b] él(Q); 13 quemó su holocausto y su ofrenda de cereal, derramó su libación y roció la sangre de sus ofrendas de paz sobre el altar; 14 y el altar de bronce(R), que estaba delante del Señor, lo trajo de delante de la casa, de entre su altar(S) y la casa del Señor, y lo puso al lado norte de su altar.
15 Entonces el rey Acaz dio órdenes al sacerdote Urías: «Quema sobre el gran altar el holocausto de la mañana y la ofrenda de cereal de la tarde(T), el holocausto del rey y su ofrenda de cereal, con el holocausto de todo el pueblo de la tierra y con su ofrenda de cereal y sus libaciones. Rocía sobre él toda la sangre del holocausto y toda la sangre del sacrificio. Pero el altar de bronce será para mí para consultar(U)». 16 Y el sacerdote Urías hizo conforme a todo lo que el rey Acaz le había ordenado.
17 Entonces el rey Acaz cortó los bordes de las basas, y quitó de ellas la pila(V). También quitó el mar de sobre los bueyes(W) de bronce que estaban debajo de él y lo puso sobre un enlosado de piedra. 18 Y el pórtico para el día de reposo, que habían edificado en la casa, y la entrada exterior del rey, los quitó de la casa del Señor a causa del rey de Asiria. 19 Los demás hechos de Acaz, lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Judá(X)? 20 Acaz durmió(Y) con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David; y su hijo Ezequías reinó en su lugar(Z).

16 In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.
2 Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his father.
3 But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel.
4 And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.
6 At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.
7 So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.
8 And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.
9 And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.
10 And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.
11 And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.
12 And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.
13 And he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.
14 And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the Lord, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the Lord, and put it on the north side of the altar.
15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.
16 Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.
17 And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon the pavement of stones.
18 And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of the Lord for the king of Assyria.
19 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
