For [a]when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that (A)by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was (B)formed out of water and by water, through which (C)the world at that time was (D)destroyed by being flooded with water. But by His word (E)the present heavens and earth are being reserved for (F)fire, kept for (G)the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people.

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, (H)beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and (I)a thousand years like one day.

  1. 2 Peter 3:5 Or they are willfully ignorant of this fact, that

(A)The mountains will melt under Him
And the valleys will be split,
Like wax before the fire,
Like water poured down a steep place.
All this is due to the [a]wrongdoing of Jacob
And the sins of the house of Israel.
What is the (B)[b]wrongdoing of Jacob?
Is it not (C)Samaria?
What is the (D)high [c]place of Judah?
Is it not Jerusalem?
For I will make Samaria a (E)heap of ruins [d]in the open country,
(F)Planting places for a vineyard.
I will (G)hurl her stones down into the valley,
And (H)lay bare her foundations.
All of her (I)idols will be crushed,
All of her earnings will be burned with fire,
And all of her images I will make desolate;
For she collected them from a (J)prostitute’s earnings,
And to the earnings of a prostitute they will return.

The Lord Gives Dominion to the King.

A Psalm of David.

110 (A)The Lord says to my Lord:
(B)Sit at My right hand
Until I make (C)Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”
The Lord will stretch out Your strong (D)scepter from Zion, saying,
(E)Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”
Your (F)people [a]will volunteer freely on the day of Your [b]power;
(G)In [c]holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn,
[d]Your youth are to You as the (H)dew.

(I)The Lord has sworn and will (J)not [e]change His mind,
“You are a (K)priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek.”
The Lord is (L)at Your right hand;
He [f]will (M)shatter kings in the (N)day of His wrath.
He will (O)judge among the nations,
He [g]will fill them with (P)corpses,
He [h]will (Q)shatter the [i]chief men over a broad country.
He will (R)drink from the brook by the wayside;
Therefore He will (S)lift up His head.

Final Admonition

[a]For behold, the day is coming, (A)burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be (B)chaff; and the day that is coming will (C)set them ablaze,” says the Lord of armies, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branches.
