Make Your Calling and Election Sure

³ His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him ^(A)who called us to^[a] his own glory and excellence,^[b]

⁸ For if these qualities^[a] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or ^(A)unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁰ For if, ^(A)after they have escaped the defilements of the world ^(B)through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, ^(C)the last state has become worse for them than the first.

^3 (A)And this is eternal life, ^(B)that they know you ^(C)the only ^(D)true God, and ^(E)Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

⁸ Indeed, I count everything as loss because of ^(A)the surpassing worth of ^(B)knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I ^(C)have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
