⁶ and if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to destruction^[a] and made them an example of what is coming to the ungodly;^[b]

⁷ Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which, in the same manner as they, indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural lust,^[a] serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.^(A)

²⁸ Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot, they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building,^{(A) 29} but on the day that Lot left Sodom it rained fire and sulfur from heaven and destroyed all of them; ³⁰ it will be like that on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

²³ all its soil burned out by sulfur and salt, nothing planted, nothing sprouting, unable to support any vegetation, like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord destroyed in his fierce anger^(A)—

¹⁰ and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up along with Korah, when that congregation died, when the fire devoured two hundred fifty men, and they became a warning.^(A)

²⁴ Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven,^{(A) 25} and he overthrew those cities and all the plain and all the inhabitants of the cities and what grew on the ground.^(B)

¹¹ These things happened to them to serve as an example, and they were written down to instruct us, on whom the ends of the ages have come.^(A)

⁴⁰ As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors, says the Lord, so no one shall live there, nor shall anyone settle in her.^(A)
