¹³ suffering wrong as ^(A)the wage for their wrongdoing. They count it pleasure ^(B)to revel in the daytime. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions,^[a] while ^(C)they feast with you.

^13 (A)Let us walk properly as in the daytime, ^(B)not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, ^(C)not in quarreling and jealousy.

⁸ but for those who are self-seeking^[a] and ^(A)do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. ⁹ There will be tribulation and distress ^(B)for every human being who does evil, the Jew ^(C)first and also the Greek,

² For since ^(A)the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and ^(B)every transgression or disobedience received a just ^(C)retribution, ^3 (D)how shall we escape if we ^(E)neglect such a great salvation? It was ^(F)declared at first by the Lord, and it was ^(G)attested to us ^(H)by those who heard,

¹² These are hidden reefs^{[a] (A)}at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, ^(B)shepherds feeding themselves; ^(C)waterless clouds, ^(D)swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, ^(E)uprooted; ^13 (F)wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of ^(G)their own shame; ^(H)wandering stars, ^(I)for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.

¹⁴ It was also about these that Enoch, ^(J)the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, ^(K)“Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, ^15 (L)to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have ^(M)committed in such an ungodly way, and of all ^(N)the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” ¹⁶ These are grumblers, malcontents, ^(O)following their own sinful desires; ^(P)they are loud-mouthed boasters, ^(Q)showing favoritism to gain advantage.

⁴ With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of ^(A)debauchery, and ^(B)they malign you;

^19 (A)Their end is destruction, ^(B)their god is their belly, and ^(C)they glory in their shame, with ^(D)minds set on earthly things.

²⁷ so ^(A)that he might present the church to himself in splendor, ^(B)without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.^[a]
