Paul’s Valedictory

⁶ For ^(A)I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of ^(B)my departure is at hand.

^18 (A)Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” ¹⁹ This He spoke, signifying ^(B)by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, ^(C)“Follow Me.”

¹⁴ “Behold, this day ^(A)I^[a] am going the way of all the earth. And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that ^(B)not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed.

Prediction of Israel’s Rebellion

¹⁴ Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(A)“Behold, the days approach when you must die; call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of meeting, that ^(B)I may ^[a]inaugurate him.”

So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tabernacle of meeting.

²¹ Furthermore ^(A)the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, and swore that ^(B)I would not cross over the Jordan, and that I would not enter the good land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance. ²² But ^(C)I must die in this land, ^(D)I must not cross over the Jordan; but you shall cross over and ^[a]possess ^(E)that good land.

²⁵ “And indeed, now I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more.

^2 (A)“I go the way of all the earth; ^(B)be strong, therefore, and prove yourself a man. ³ And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may ^(C)prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn;
