¹² Therefore, I will always remind you about these things—even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught.

²¹ So I am writing to you not because you don’t know the truth but because you know the difference between truth and lies.

The Priceless Value of Knowing Christ

3 Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters,^[a] rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith.

Paul’s Reason for Writing

¹⁴ I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters,^[a] that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well you can teach each other all about them. ¹⁵ Even so, I have been bold enough to write about some of these points, knowing that all you need is this reminder. For by God’s grace,

⁷ Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

⁵ So I want to remind you, though you already know these things, that Jesus^[a] first rescued the nation of Israel from Egypt, but later he destroyed those who did not remain faithful.

² because the truth lives in us and will be with us forever.

¹³ And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live.^[a]

¹⁷ But you, my dear friends, must remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ predicted.

³ Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people.
