24 Sedan sa han till Mose: ”Kom hit upp till Herren, du, Aron, Nadav, Avihu och sjuttio av de äldste i Israel, och tillbe på avstånd. 2 Mose ensam ska komma nära Herren och ingen av det övriga folket får komma upp med honom.”
3 Mose kom och förkunnade för folket vad Herren hade talat och gav dem hans stadgar och hela folket svarade med en mun: ”Vi ska göra allt vad Herren har sagt.”
4 Mose skrev ner alla Herrens ord och tidigt följande morgon byggde han ett altare vid bergets fot. Han reste tolv stenstoder för de tolv stammarna i Israel. 5 Därefter skickade han några unga israeliter att frambära brännoffer och tjurar som gemenskapsoffer till Herren. 6 Mose tog hälften av blodet från offerdjuren och hällde det i skålar. Den andra hälften stänkte han på altaret.
7 Sedan tog Mose förbundsboken och läste den för folket. De sa: ”Vi vill lyda och följa allt vad Herren har sagt.”
8 Då tog Mose blodet och stänkte på folket och sa: ”Detta blod bekräftar det förbund Herren har ingått med er i enlighet med alla dessa ord.”
9 Mose, Aron, Nadav, Avihu och sjuttio av de äldste gick upp på berget. 10 De såg Israels Gud och under hans fötter var det som ett golv av safirer, så klart som själva himlen. 11 Men han lyfte inte sin hand mot dessa Israels ledare. De fick se Gud och de åt och drack.
12 Herren sa till Mose: ”Kom upp till mig på berget och stanna här, så ska jag ge dig stentavlorna med lagen och budorden, som jag har skrivit ner för att undervisa folket.”
13 Då gick Mose iväg tillsammans med sin medhjälpare Josua och han gick upp på Guds berg. 14 Mose sa till de äldste: ”Stanna kvar här och vänta på oss tills vi kommer tillbaka. Aron och Hur är kvar hos er. Den som behöver få en fråga avgjord får vända sig till dem.”
15 När Mose gick upp på berget höljdes det i ett moln. 16 Herrens härlighet vilade över berget Sinai, och molnet täckte det i sex dagar. Den sjunde dagen kallade han på Mose från molnet. 17 Israeliterna såg Herrens härlighet som en förtärande eld på toppen av berget. 18 Mose gick upp på berget och in i molnet, och han stannade där uppe i fyrtio dagar och fyrtio nätter.

24 Then he said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, (A)Nadab, and Abihu, and (B)seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar. 2 Moses (C)alone shall come near to the Lord, but the others shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him.”
3 Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and (D)all the rules.[a] And all the people answered with one voice and said, (E)“All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do.” 4 And (F)Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve (G)pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And he sent young men of the people of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord. 6 And (H)Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he threw against the altar. 7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, (I)“All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.” 8 (J)And Moses took the blood and threw it on the people and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”
9 Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and (K)seventy of the elders of Israel (L)went up, 10 and they (M)saw the God of Israel. There was under his feet as it were a pavement of (N)sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness. 11 And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and (O)ate and drank.
12 The Lord said to Moses, (P)“Come up to me on the mountain and wait there, that I may give you the (Q)tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.” 13 So Moses rose with his assistant (R)Joshua, and Moses went up (S)into the mountain of God. 14 And he said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we return to you. And behold, Aaron and (T)Hur are with you. Whoever has a dispute, let him go to them.”
15 Then Moses went up on the mountain, and (U)the cloud covered the mountain. 16 (V)The glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a (W)devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. 18 Moses entered the cloud and went up on the mountain. And Moses (X)was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

Levantándose muy de mañana, edificó un altar(F) al pie[b] del monte, con doce columnas por las doce tribus de Israel. 5 Y envió jóvenes de los hijos de Israel, que ofrecieron holocaustos y sacrificaron novillos como ofrendas de paz al Señor(G). 6 Moisés tomó la mitad de la sangre y la puso en vasijas(H), y la otra mitad de la sangre la roció sobre el altar. 7 Luego tomó el libro del pacto y lo leyó a oídos del pueblo(I), y ellos dijeron: Todo lo que el Señor ha dicho haremos y obedeceremos(J). 8 Entonces Moisés tomó la sangre y la roció sobre el pueblo(K), y dijo: He aquí la sangre del pacto(L) que el Señor ha hecho[c] con vosotros, según[d] todas estas palabras.
9 Y subió Moisés con[e] Aarón, Nadab y Abiú, y setenta de los ancianos de Israel(M); 10 y vieron al Dios de Israel(N), y debajo de sus pies había como un embaldosado de zafiro(O), tan[f] claro como el mismo cielo. 11 Mas Él no extendió su mano contra los príncipes de los hijos de Israel; y ellos vieron a Dios(P) y comieron y bebieron.
12 Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: Sube hasta mí, al monte, y espera[g] allí, y te daré las tablas de piedra con[h] la ley y los mandamientos[i] que he escrito(Q) para instrucción de ellos. 13 Y se levantó Moisés con Josué su ayudante(R), y subió Moisés al monte de Dios(S), 14 y dijo a los ancianos: Esperadnos aquí hasta que volvamos a vosotros(T). Y he aquí, Aarón y Hur(U) están con vosotros; el que tenga algún asunto legal[j], acuda a ellos. 15 Entonces subió Moisés al monte, y la nube cubrió el monte(V). 16 Y la gloria del Señor reposó[k] sobre el monte Sinaí, y la nube(W) lo cubrió por seis días; y al séptimo día, Dios llamó a Moisés de en medio de la nube(X). 17 A los ojos de los hijos de Israel la apariencia de la gloria del Señor era como un fuego consumidor(Y) sobre la cumbre del monte. 18 Y entró Moisés en medio de la nube, y subió al monte; y estuvo Moisés en el monte cuarenta días y cuarenta noches(Z).
