Prästernas dräkter
28 Du ska avskilja din bror Aron och hans söner Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar och Itamar till präster åt mig.
2 Gör särskilda kläder åt Aron, för att visa att han är avskild åt Gud. Det ska vara vackra kläder som ger värdighet åt hans tjänst.
3 Uppmana dem som jag har gjort speciellt skickliga som skräddare att göra kläder åt honom som skiljer honom från andra, när han nu ska vara präst åt mig.
4 Detta ska du låta göra åt honom: en bröstsköld, en efod, en mantel, en vävd tunika, en turban och ett bälte. Du ska också göra kläder åt Arons söner.
5-6 Efoden ska göras av guld och av mörkblått, purpurrött, rosenrött och tvinnat vitt garn i konstvävnad.
7 Den ska göras i två delar, ett fram- och ett bakstycke, och fästas ihop med två axelstycken som framtill räcker ner till skärpet, där de fästes vid framstycket.
8 Skärpet, som ska sitta fast vid efoden, ska göras av samma material, guldtrådar och mörkblått, purpurrött, rosenrött och tvinnat vitt garn.
9 Ta två onyxstenar och rista in namnen på Israels stammar i dem.
10 Sex namn ska finnas på varje sten så att alla stammar finns med, från den äldsta till den yngsta.
11 När du graverar in namnen ska du använda samma teknik som när man graverar signetringar. Stenarna ska vara infattade i guld!
12 Fäst dem vid axlarna på efoden. Aron ska bära Israels barns namn inför Herrens ansikte på sina axlar som en ständig påminnelse.
13-14 Två flätverk av guld ska du låta göra och fästa vid axelstyckena på efodens framsida. Gör också två guldsnoddar och fäst dem vid flätverken.
Bröstskölden
15 Sedan ska du göra en bröstsköld av den allra finaste konstvävnad till att användas när Guds vilja ska klargöras. Använd samma slags material: guld och mörkblått, purpurrött, rosenrött och fint tvinnat vitt garn, precis som du använde i efoden.
16 Bröstskölden ska ha formen av en väska med fyra lika stora sidor.
17 På den ska du sätta in fyra rader med stenar. I första raden ska det vara en karneol, en topas och en smaragd.
18 Den andra raden ska innehålla en karbunkel, en safir och en kalcedon och
19 den tredje en hyacint, en agat och en ametist.
20 I den fjärde raden sätter du en krysolit, en onyx och en jaspis, och de ska alla vara infattade i guld.
21-24 Varje sten ska representera en av Israels tolv stammar, och namnen ska graveras in som på en signetring.
25 Sätt fast bröstskölden vid efoden med de två guldsnoddarna som är fästade vid efodens axelstycken. Var och en av dessa snoddar ska med sin andra ände fästas vid en guldring i bröstsköldens övre hörn.
26 Sedan ska du göra två andra ringar av guld och sätta fast dem i bröstsköldens båda andra hörn och
27 sedan ytterligare två guldringar som ska sitta på efodens axelstycken vid dess nedre kant, där man fäster ihop den över efodens skärp.
28 Knyt fast bröstskölden med ett mörkblått snöre som går från dess ringar in i efodens ringar, så att den sitter ovanför efodens skärp och inte lossnar från efoden.
29 På så sätt ska Aron bära namnen på Israels stammar på bröstskölden över sitt hjärta, när han går in i helgedomen, så att Herren alltid ska bli påmind om dem.
30 I bröstsköldens ficka ska du lägga urim och tummim, så att Aron bär dem vid sitt hjärta när han behöver dem för att inför Herrens ansikte fatta rätt beslut för folket.
Manteln och tunikan
31 Manteln ska du göra helt av mörkblått tyg
32 med en öppning för huvudet. Öppningen ska omges av en vävd krage, så att tyget inte går sönder.
33-34 På den nedre kanten av manteln ska du fästa granatäpplen som är gjorda av mörkblått, purpurrött och rosenrött garn, och mellan dessa bjällror av guld runt hela fållen.
35 Aron ska alltid bära manteln när han går för att göra tjänst inför Herren. Då hörs bjällrorna när han går in i helgedomen inför Herrens ansikte och när han går ut därifrån, för att man ska kunna veta att han inte har dött.
36 Sedan ska du göra en plåt av rent guld, och på den ska du rista in 'Helgad åt Herren
37-38 Plåten ska du fästa med ett mörkblått snöre framtill på Arons turban. Aron ska bära den i pannan och därmed bära den skuld som följer med de gåvor Israels folk frambär. Den ska alltid bäras när han går inför Herren, så att folket ska få förlåtelse och Herren ta emot offren.
39 Arons tunika ska vävas av fint linnegarn. Väv turbanen på samma sätt. Skärpet ska göras av en konsthantverkare.
40 Åt Arons söner ska du också göra tunikor, skärp och huvudbindlar, så att man visar dem respekt och vördnad.
41 Kläd Aron och hans söner med dessa kläder och invig dem till tjänst åt mig genom att smörja deras huvuden med olivolja.
42 Gör också underkläder av linne åt dem. De ska räcka ner till knäna,
43 och de ska bära dem när de går in i tabernaklet eller till altaret i helgedomen, för att de inte ska ådra sig skuld och dö. Detta är en lag som alltid ska gälla för Aron och hans söner.

The Priests' Garments
28 “Then bring near to you (A)Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the people of Israel, to serve me as priests—Aaron and Aaron's sons, (B)Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. 2 (C)And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty. 3 You shall speak to all the (D)skillful, whom I have filled with a spirit of skill, that they make Aaron's garments to consecrate him for my priesthood. 4 These are the garments that they shall make: a (E)breastpiece, an (F)ephod, (G)a robe, (H)a coat of checker work, (I)a turban, and (J)a sash. They shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons to serve me as priests. 5 They shall receive (K)gold, blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and fine twined linen.
6 (L)“And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and of fine twined linen, skillfully worked. 7 It shall have two shoulder pieces attached to its two edges, so that it may be joined together. 8 And the (M)skillfully woven band on it shall be made like it and be of one piece with it, of gold, blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and fine twined linen. 9 You shall take two onyx stones, and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel, 10 six of their names on the one stone, and the names of the remaining six on the other stone, in the order of their birth. 11 As a jeweler engraves signets, so shall you engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall enclose them in settings of gold filigree. 12 And you shall set the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, as stones of remembrance for the sons of Israel. And (N)Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders (O)for remembrance. 13 You shall make settings of gold filigree, 14 and two chains of pure gold, twisted like cords; and you shall attach the corded chains to the settings.
15 (P)“You shall make a breastpiece of judgment, in skilled work. In the style of the ephod you shall make it—of gold, blue and purple and scarlet yarns, and fine twined linen shall you make it. 16 It shall be square and doubled, a span[a] its length and a span its breadth. 17 (Q)You shall set in it four rows of stones. A row of sardius,[b] topaz, and carbuncle shall be the first row; 18 and the second row an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond; 19 and the third row a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; 20 and the fourth row a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper. They shall be set in gold filigree. 21 There shall be twelve stones with their names according to the names of the sons of Israel. They shall be like signets, each engraved with its name, for the twelve tribes. 22 You shall make for the breastpiece twisted chains like cords, of pure gold. 23 And you shall make for the breastpiece two rings of gold, and put the two rings on the two edges of the breastpiece. 24 And you shall put the two cords of gold in the two rings at the edges of the breastpiece. 25 The two ends of the two cords you shall attach to the two settings of filigree, and so attach it in front to the shoulder pieces of the ephod. 26 You shall make two rings of gold, and put them at the two ends of the breastpiece, on its inside edge next to the ephod. 27 And you shall make two rings of gold, and attach them in front to the lower part of the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, at its seam above the (R)skillfully woven band of the ephod. 28 And they shall bind the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, so that it may lie on the skillfully woven band of the ephod, so that the breastpiece shall not come loose from the ephod. 29 (S)So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of judgment on his heart, when he goes into the Holy Place, to bring them to regular (T)remembrance before the Lord. 30 And in the breastpiece of judgment (U)you shall put the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be on Aaron's heart, when he goes in before the Lord. Thus Aaron shall bear the judgment of the people of Israel on his heart before the Lord regularly.
31 (V)“You shall make the robe of the ephod all of blue. 32 It shall have an opening for the head in the middle of it, with a woven binding around the opening, like the opening in a garment,[c] so that it may not tear. 33 On its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet yarns, around its hem, with bells of gold between them, 34 a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, around the hem of the robe. 35 And it shall be on Aaron when he ministers, and its sound shall be heard when he goes into the Holy Place before the Lord, and when he comes out, so that he does not die.
36 “You shall make (W)a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet, (X)‘Holy to the Lord.’ 37 And you shall fasten it on the turban by a cord of blue. It shall be on the front of the turban. 38 It shall be on Aaron's forehead, and Aaron shall (Y)bear any guilt from the holy things that the people of Israel consecrate as their holy gifts. It shall regularly be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the Lord.
39 “You shall weave the coat in checker work of fine linen, and you shall make a turban of fine linen, and you shall make a sash embroidered with needlework.
40 (Z)“For Aaron's sons you shall make coats and sashes and caps. You shall make them (AA)for glory and beauty. 41 And you shall put them on Aaron your brother, and on his sons with him, and shall (AB)anoint them and ordain them and (AC)consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests. 42 You shall make for them (AD)linen undergarments to cover their naked flesh. They shall reach from the hips to the thighs; 43 and they shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they go into the tent of meeting or when they come near the altar to minister in the Holy Place, lest they (AE)bear guilt and die. (AF)This shall be a statute forever for him and for his offspring after him.

28 »Fais approcher de toi ton frère Aaron et ses fils, prends-les parmi les Israélites pour qu’ils me servent en tant que prêtres. Il s’agit d’Aaron et de ses fils Nadab, Abihu, Eléazar et Ithamar.
2 »Tu feras à ton frère Aaron des vêtements sacrés pour marquer son importance et son rang. 3 Tu parleras à tous les artisans, que j'ai remplis d’un esprit d'habileté, et ils feront les vêtements qu’Aaron portera lorsqu'il sera consacré et lorsqu'il remplira la fonction de prêtre pour moi. 4 Voici les vêtements qu'ils feront: un pectoral[a], un éphod[b], une robe, une tunique brodée, une tiare et une écharpe. Ils feront des vêtements sacrés destinés à ton frère Aaron et à ses fils lorsqu'ils rempliront la fonction de prêtres pour moi. 5 Ils emploieront de l'or, des étoffes teintes en bleu, en pourpre, en cramoisi, et du fin lin.
L'éphod
6 »Ils feront l'éphod en or, en fil bleu, pourpre et cramoisi, et en fin lin retors. Il sera fait selon l’art du brodeur. 7 On y fera 2 bretelles qui le relieront par ses 2 bords; c'est ainsi qu'il sera assemblé. 8 L’écharpe sera faite du même matériau que l'éphod et fixée sur lui; elle sera en or, en fil bleu, pourpre et cramoisi, et en fin lin retors. 9 Tu prendras 2 pierres d'onyx et tu y graveras les noms des fils d'Israël, 10 6 noms sur une pierre et les 6 autres sur la seconde pierre, d'après leur ordre de naissance. 11 Tu graveras les noms des fils d'Israël sur les deux pierres, comme le fait un graveur de pierres, un graveur de cachets, et tu les entoureras de montures en or. 12 Tu mettras les deux pierres sur les bretelles de l'éphod en souvenir des fils d'Israël et c'est comme souvenir qu'Aaron portera leurs noms devant l'Eternel sur ses deux épaules. 13 Tu feras des montures en or 14 ainsi que 2 chaînettes en or pur, que tu tresseras en forme de cordons, et tu fixeras aux montures les chaînettes ainsi tressées.
Le pectoral
15 »Tu feras le pectoral du jugement selon l’art du brodeur. Tu le feras avec le même matériau que l'éphod, en or, en fil bleu, pourpre et cramoisi, et en fin lin retors. 16 Il sera carré et double; sa longueur et sa largeur seront de 25 centimètres. 17 Tu y enchâsseras une garniture de 4 rangées de pierres; première rangée: une sardoine, une topaze, une émeraude; 18 deuxième rangée: une escarboucle, un saphir, un diamant; 19 troisième rangée: une opale, une agate, une améthyste; 20 quatrième rangée: une chrysolithe, un onyx, un jaspe. Ces pierres seront enchâssées dans leurs montures en or. 21 Il y en aura 12, d'après les noms des fils d'Israël. Elles seront gravées comme des cachets, chacune avec le nom de l'une des 12 tribus. 22 Tu feras sur le pectoral des chaînettes en or pur, tressées en forme de cordons. 23 Tu feras 2 anneaux en or sur le pectoral et tu les mettras aux 2 extrémités du pectoral. 24 Tu passeras les 2 cordons en or dans les 2 anneaux placés aux 2 extrémités du pectoral; 25 et tu fixeras par-devant les bouts des 2 cordons aux 2 montures placées sur les bretelles de l'éphod. 26 Tu feras encore 2 anneaux en or, que tu mettras aux 2 extrémités du pectoral, sur le bord intérieur appliqué contre l'éphod. 27 Et tu feras 2 autres anneaux en or, que tu mettras au bas des 2 bretelles de l'éphod, sur le devant, près de leur point d’attache, au-dessus de l’écharpe de l'éphod. 28 On attachera le pectoral par ses anneaux aux anneaux de l'éphod avec un cordon bleu, afin que le pectoral soit au-dessus de l’écharpe de l'éphod et qu'il ne puisse pas se séparer de l'éphod. 29 Lorsque Aaron entrera dans le sanctuaire, il portera sur son cœur les noms des fils d'Israël, gravés sur le pectoral du jugement, pour en garder à toujours le souvenir devant l'Eternel. 30 Tu placeras dans le pectoral du jugement l'urim et le thummim[c], et ils seront sur le cœur d'Aaron lorsqu'il se présentera devant l'Eternel. Ainsi, Aaron portera constamment sur son cœur le jugement des Israélites lorsqu'il se présentera devant l'Eternel.
La robe de l'éphod
31 »Tu feras la robe de l'éphod entièrement en étoffe bleue. 32 Au milieu, il y aura une ouverture pour la tête, et cette ouverture aura tout autour un ourlet tissé, comme l'encolure d'un habit en cuir, afin que la robe ne se déchire pas. 33 Tout autour de la bordure, en bas, tu feras des grenades de couleur bleue, pourpre et cramoisie intercalées avec des clochettes en or: 34 une clochette en or et une grenade, une clochette en or et une grenade, sur toute la bordure de la robe. 35 Aaron la portera pour faire le service. Quand il entrera dans le sanctuaire devant l'Eternel et quand il en sortira, on entendra le son des clochettes et il ne mourra pas.
Le diadème sacré et la tenue des prêtres
36 »Tu feras une lame en or pur et tu y graveras, comme le fait un graveur de cachet: ‘Sainteté à l'Eternel.’ 37 Tu l'attacheras avec un cordon bleu sur la tiare, sur le devant de la tiare. 38 Elle sera sur le front d'Aaron, ainsi Aaron sera chargé des fautes commises par les Israélites lorsqu’ils m’apporteront toutes leurs saintes offrandes; elle sera constamment sur son front devant l'Eternel pour qu'il leur soit favorable.
39 »Tu feras la tunique en fin lin; tu feras une tiare en fin lin et une ceinture brodée.
40 »Pour les fils d'Aaron tu feras des tuniques ainsi que des ceintures et des coiffes pour marquer leur importance et l’honneur de leur rang. 41 Tu en revêtiras ton frère Aaron et ses fils avec lui. Tu les désigneras par onction, tu les établiras dans leurs fonctions, tu les consacreras et ils seront à mon service en tant que prêtres. 42 Fais-leur des caleçons en lin pour couvrir leur nudité; ils iront des reins aux cuisses. 43 Aaron et ses fils les porteront quand ils entreront dans la tente de la rencontre ou quand ils s'approcheront de l'autel pour faire le service dans le sanctuaire; ainsi ils ne se rendront pas coupables et ne mourront pas. C'est une prescription perpétuelle pour Aaron et pour ses descendants après lui.
