6 Der Herr antwortete Mose: »Bald wirst du sehen, was ich mit dem Pharao mache! Ich werde ihn dazu zwingen, mein Volk gehen zu lassen. Wenn er meine Macht zu spüren bekommt, wird er sogar froh sein, euch loszuwerden!«

Gott wiederholt seinen Auftrag an Mose

2 Gott sprach noch einmal zu Mose: »Ich bin der Herr! 3 Euren Vorfahren Abraham, Isaak und Jakob bin ich als der allmächtige Gott erschienen, aber meinen Namen ›der Herr‹ habe ich ihnen nicht offenbart. 4 Ich habe mit ihnen meinen Bund geschlossen und darin versprochen, ihnen das Land Kanaan zu geben, in dem sie als Fremde gelebt haben. 5 Nun habe ich gehört, wie die Israeliten als Sklaven der Ägypter stöhnen. Ich habe an meinen Bund mit ihnen gedacht. 6 Darum richte den Israeliten aus: Ich bin der Herr! Ich will euch von eurer schweren Arbeit erlösen und euch von der Unterdrückung durch die Ägypter befreien. Mit starker Hand werde ich die Ägypter strafen und mein Urteil an ihnen vollstrecken. Euch aber werde ich retten. 7 Ich nehme euch als mein Volk an, und ich will euer Gott sein. Ja, ihr sollt erkennen, dass ich der Herr, euer Gott, bin, der euch aus der Sklaverei Ägyptens befreit! 8 Ich bringe euch in das Land, das ich Abraham, Isaak und Jakob mit einem Eid versprochen habe. Ich will es euch schenken, denn ich bin der Herr!«

9 Mose berichtete den Israeliten, was Gott zu ihm gesagt hatte, aber sie hörten nicht auf ihn. Sie waren erschöpft von der schweren Arbeit. Ihr Mut war gebrochen, ihre Hoffnung erloschen. 10 Da sagte der Herr zu Mose: 11 »Geh zum Pharao, dem König von Ägypten! Er soll die Israeliten aus dem Land ziehen lassen!« 12 »Ach, Herr«, wandte Mose ein, »wenn mir schon die Israeliten nicht geglaubt haben, wie sollte dann der Pharao auf mich hören? Ich bin einfach ein zu schlechter Redner!«

13 Doch der Herr sprach erneut mit Mose und Aaron und beauftragte sie, noch einmal mit den Israeliten und dem ägyptischen König zu reden; denn sie sollten das Volk Israel aus Ägypten herausführen.

Moses und Aarons Herkunft

14 Dies sind die Sippenoberhäupter des Volkes Israel, die in Ägypten lebten: Ruben, der erstgeborene Sohn Israels, war der Vater von Henoch, Pallu, Hezron und Karmi. Von ihnen stammten vier Sippen ab, die sich nach ihnen nannten.

15 Die Sippen des Stammes Simeon gingen auf Simeons Söhne zurück: Jemuël, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar und Schaul, dessen Mutter eine Kanaaniterin war.

16 Die Söhne von Levi – in der Reihenfolge ihrer Geburt – waren: Gerschon, Kehat und Merari. Ihr Vater Levi wurde 137 Jahre alt.

17 Gerschon hatte zwei Söhne: Libni und Schimi; von ihnen stammen die gleichnamigen Sippen ab. 18 Kehats Söhne hießen Amram, Jizhar, Hebron und Usiël. Kehat wurde 133 Jahre alt. 19 Merari hatte zwei Söhne: Machli und Muschi. Dies waren die Sippen des Stammes Levi, nach ihrer Herkunft geordnet.

20 Amram heiratete Jochebed, die Schwester seines Vaters; sie hatten zwei Söhne: Aaron und Mose. Amram wurde 137 Jahre alt. 21 Jizhars Söhne hießen Korach, Nefeg und Sichri. 22 Usiëls Söhne waren Mischaël, Elizafan und Sitri.

23 Aaron heiratete Elischeba, die Tochter Amminadabs und Schwester Nachschons. Sie hatten vier Söhne: Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar und Itamar. 24 Korachs Söhne waren Assir, Elkana und Abiasaf. Nach ihnen wurden die Sippen der Korachiter benannt. 25 Aarons Sohn Eleasar heiratete eine Tochter Putiëls; sie hatten einen Sohn namens Pinhas.

Dies waren die Familienoberhäupter der Leviten, nach Sippen geordnet. 26 Mose und Aaron, die Söhne Amrams, waren es, denen der Herr befahl: »Führt die Israeliten aus Ägypten heraus, nach Stammesverbänden geordnet!« 27 Diese beiden Männer redeten mit dem König von Ägypten, damit er die Israeliten freiließ.

Gott sendet Mose und Aaron

28 Der Herr sprach zu Mose in Ägypten: 29 »Ich bin der Herr! Richte dem Pharao, dem König von Ägypten, alles aus, was ich dir sage!« 30 Mose wandte ein: »Ach, Herr, ich bin so ein schlechter Redner! Wie sollte da der Pharao auf mich hören?«

6 Der HERR sprach zu Mose: Nun sollst du sehen, was ich Pharao tun werde; denn durch eine starke Hand muß er sie lassen ziehen, er muß sie noch durch eine starke Hand aus seinem Lande von sich treiben.

2 Und Gott redete mit Mose und sprach zu ihm: Ich bin der HERR

3 und bin erschienen Abraham, Isaak und Jakob als der allmächtige Gott; aber mein Name HERR ist ihnen nicht offenbart worden.

4 Auch habe ich einen Bund mit ihnen aufgerichtet, daß ich ihnen geben will das Land Kanaan, das Land ihrer Wallfahrt, darin sie Fremdlinge gewesen sind.

5 Auch habe ich gehört die Wehklage der Kinder Israel, welche die Ägypter mit Frönen beschweren, und habe an meinen Bund gedacht.

6 Darum sage den Kindern Israel: Ich bin der HERR und will euch ausführen von euren Lasten in Ägypten und will euch erretten von eurem Frönen und will euch erlösen durch ausgereckten Arm und große Gerichte

7 und will euch annehmen zum Volk und will euer Gott sein, daß ihr's erfahren sollt, daß ich der HERR bin, euer Gott, der euch ausführt von der Last Ägyptens

8 und euch bringt in das Land, darüber ich habe meine Hand gehoben, daß ich's gäbe Abraham, Isaak und Jakob; das will ich euch geben zu eigen, ich, der HERR.

9 Mose sagte solches den Kindern Israel; aber sie hörten ihn nicht vor Seufzen und Angst vor harter Arbeit.

10 Da redete der HERR mit Mose und sprach:

11 Gehe hinein und rede mit Pharao, dem König in Ägypten, daß er die Kinder Israel aus seinem Lande lasse.

12 Mose aber redete vor dem HERRN und sprach: Siehe, die Kinder Israel hören mich nicht; wie sollte mich denn Pharao hören? Dazu bin ich von unbeschnittenen Lippen.

13 Also redete der HERR mit Mose und Aaron und tat ihnen Befehl an die Kinder Israel und an Pharao, den König in Ägypten, daß sie die Kinder Israel aus Ägypten führten.

14 Dies sind die Häupter in ihren Vaterhäusern. Die Kinder Rubens, des ersten Sohnes Israels, sind diese: Henoch, Pallu, Hezron, Charmi. Das sind die Geschlechter von Ruben.

15 Die Kinder Simeons sind diese: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar und Saul, der Sohn des kanaanäischen Weibes. Das sind Simeons Geschlechter.

16 Dies sind die Namen der Kinder Levis nach ihren Geschlechtern: Gerson, Kahath, Merari. Aber Levi ward hundertsiebenunddreißig Jahre alt.

17 Die Kinder Gersons sind diese: Libni und Simei nach ihren Geschlechtern.

18 Die Kinder Kahaths sind diese: Amram, Jizhar, Hebron, Usiel. Kahath aber ward hundertdreiunddreißig Jahre alt.

19 Die Kinder Merari sind diese: Maheli und Musi. Das sind die Geschlechter Levis nach ihrer Abstammung.

20 Und Amram nahm seine Muhme Jochebed zum Weibe; die gebar ihm Aaron und Mose. Aber Amram ward hundertsiebenunddreißig Jahre alt.

21 Die Kinder Jizhars sind diese: Korah, Nepheg, Sichri.

22 Die Kinder Usiels sind diese: Misael, Elzaphan, Sithri.

23 Aaron nahm zum Weibe Eliseba, die Tochter Amminadabs, Nahessons Schwester; die gebar ihm Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar, Ithamar.

24 Die Kinder Korah sind diese: Assir, Elkana, Abiasaph. Das sind die Geschlechter der Korahiter.

25 Eleasar aber, Aarons Sohn, der nahm von den Töchtern Putiels ein Weib; die gebar ihm Pinehas. Das sind die Häupter unter den Vätern der Leviten-Geschlechter.

26 Das ist Aaron und Mose, zu denen der HERR sprach: Führet die Kinder Israel aus Ägyptenland mit ihrem Heer.

27 Sie sind's die mit Pharao, dem König in Ägypten, redeten, daß sie die Kinder Israel aus Ägypten führten, nämlich Mose und Aaron.

28 Und des Tages redete der HERR mit Mose in Ägyptenland

29 und sprach zu Ihm: Ich bin der HERR; rede mit Pharao, dem König in Ägypten, alles, was ich mit dir rede.

30 Und er antwortete vor dem HERRN: Siehe, ich bin von unbeschnittenen Lippen; wie wird mich denn Pharao hören?

6 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand(A) he will let them go;(B) because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.”(C)

2 God also said to Moses, “I am the Lord.(D) 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty,[a](E) but by my name(F) the Lord[b](G) I did not make myself fully known to them. 4 I also established my covenant(H) with them to give them the land(I) of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners.(J) 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning(K) of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.(L)

6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.(M) I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem(N) you with an outstretched arm(O) and with mighty acts of judgment.(P) 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God.(Q) Then you will know(R) that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you to the land(S) I swore(T) with uplifted hand(U) to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob.(V) I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’”(W)

9 Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor.(X)

10 Then the Lord said to Moses, 11 “Go, tell(Y) Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.”(Z)

12 But Moses said to the Lord, “If the Israelites will not listen(AA) to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips[c]?”(AB)

Family Record of Moses and Aaron

13 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.(AC)

14 These were the heads of their families[d]:(AD)

The sons of Reuben(AE) the firstborn son of Israel were Hanok and Pallu, Hezron and Karmi. These were the clans of Reuben.

15 The sons of Simeon(AF) were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon.

16 These were the names of the sons of Levi(AG) according to their records: Gershon,(AH) Kohath and Merari.(AI) Levi lived 137 years.

17 The sons of Gershon, by clans, were Libni and Shimei.(AJ)

18 The sons of Kohath(AK) were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.(AL) Kohath lived 133 years.

19 The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi.(AM)

These were the clans of Levi according to their records.

20 Amram(AN) married his father’s sister Jochebed, who bore him Aaron and Moses.(AO) Amram lived 137 years.

21 The sons of Izhar(AP) were Korah, Nepheg and Zikri.

22 The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan(AQ) and Sithri.

23 Aaron married Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab(AR) and sister of Nahshon,(AS) and she bore him Nadab and Abihu,(AT) Eleazar(AU) and Ithamar.(AV)

24 The sons of Korah(AW) were Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph. These were the Korahite clans.

25 Eleazar son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas.(AX)

These were the heads of the Levite families, clan by clan.

26 It was this Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said, “Bring the Israelites out of Egypt(AY) by their divisions.”(AZ) 27 They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh(BA) king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt—this same Moses and Aaron.(BB)

Aaron to Speak for Moses

28 Now when the Lord spoke to Moses in Egypt, 29 he said to him, “I am the Lord.(BC) Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you.”

30 But Moses said to the Lord, “Since I speak with faltering lips,(BD) why would Pharaoh listen to me?”

God Renews His Promise to Israel

6 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh. For (A)with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand (B)he will drive them out of his land.”

2 And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I am [a]the Lord. 3 (C)I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as (D)God Almighty, but by My name (E)Lord[b] I was not known to them. 4 (F)I have also [c]established My covenant with them, (G)to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their [d]pilgrimage, (H)in which they were [e]strangers. 5 And (I)I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant. 6 Therefore say to the children of Israel: (J)‘I am the Lord; (K)I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will (L)rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with [f]an outstretched arm and with great judgments. 7 I will (M)take you as My people, and (N)I will be your God. 10 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 11 “Go in, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the children of Israel go out of his land.”

12 And Moses spoke before the Lord, saying, “The children of Israel have not heeded me. How then shall Pharaoh heed me, for (S)I am [i]of uncircumcised lips?”

13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, and gave them a (T)command[j] for the children of Israel and for Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

14 These are the heads of their fathers’ houses: (V)The sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, were Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. Aaron Is Moses’ Spokesman

28 And it came to pass, on the day the Lord spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, 29 that the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “I am the Lord. (AN)Speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say to you.”

30 But Moses said before the Lord, “Behold, (AO)I am [m]of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh heed me?”
