24 Sa^(A) panahon ng paghahari ni Jehoiakim, ang Juda ay sinakop ni Haring Nebucadnezar ng Babilonia. Tatlong taon siyang nagpasakop sa Babilonia at pagkatapos ay naghimagsik laban kay Nebucadnezar. ²At tulad ng sinabi ni Yahweh sa pamamagitan ng kanyang mga propeta, ipinalusob niya ang mga taga-Juda sa mga taga-Babilonia, sa mga taga-Siria, sa mga Moabita at mga Ammonita. ³Niloob ni Yahweh na mapalayas ang mga taga-Juda dahil sa kasamaang ginawa ni Manases, ⁴at sa pagpatay nito sa napakaraming taóng walang kasalanan. Halos bumaha ng dugo sa buong Jerusalem, at dahil dito ay hindi siya mapatawad ni Yahweh.

⁵Ang lahat ng ginawa ni Jehoiakim ay nakasulat sa Kasaysayan ng mga Hari ng Juda. ⁶Nang siya'y mamatay, ang anak niyang si Jehoiakin ang humalili sa kanya bilang hari. ⁷Hindi na muling lumabas ng kanyang bansa ang hari ng Egipto noon sapagkat lahat ng sakop niya ay sinakop na ng hari ng Babilonia, mula sa Batis ng Egipto hanggang sa Ilog Eufrates.

Ang Paghahari ni Jehoiakin sa Juda^(B)

⁸Si Jehoiakin ay labingwalong taóng gulang nang maghari sa Jerusalem at ito'y tumagal nang tatlong buwan. Ang kanyang ina ay si Nehusta na anak ni Elnatan na taga-Jerusalem. ⁹Tulad ng kanyang ama, ginawa rin niya ang mga bagay na hindi kalugud-lugod kay Yahweh.

¹⁰Nang panahong iyon, ang Jerusalem ay kinubkob ng mga kawal ni Haring Nebucadnezar ng Babilonia. ¹¹Habang ang mga kawal ng Babilonia ay nakapaligid sa lunsod, dumating si Haring Nebucadnezar. ¹²At^(C) sumuko sa kanya si Haring Jehoiakin, pati ang ina nito, mga katulong, mga pinuno at lahat ng tauhan sa palasyo. Binihag sila ni Nebucadnezar noong ikawalong taon ng paghahari nito. ¹³Sinamsam pa niyang lahat ang kayamanan sa palasyo at sa Templo. At tulad ng babala ni Yahweh, sinira ni Nebucadnezar ang mga kagamitang ginto na ipinagawa ni Solomon para sa Templo. ¹⁴Dinala niyang bihag ang lahat ng taga-Jerusalem: ang mga pinuno, mga kawal, mga dalubhasa at mga panday. Lahat-lahat ay umabot sa sampung libo. Wala silang itinira liban sa mga dukha.

¹⁵Tinangay^(D) nga ni Nebucadnezar sa Babilonia si Jehoiakin, ang ina nito, mga asawa, mga pinuno at lahat ng pangunahing mamamayan sa Jerusalem. ¹⁶Dinala rin niya sa Babilonia ang may pitong libong kawal at ang sanlibong mahuhusay na manggagawa at panday na pawang malalakas ang katawan at angkop maging mga kawal. ¹⁷Si^(E) Matanias na tiyuhin ni Jehoiakin ang ipinalit ni Nebucadnezar dito bilang hari ng Juda at pinalitan niya ng Zedekias ang pangalan nito.

Ang Paghahari ni Zedekias sa Juda^(F)

¹⁸Si^(G) Zedekias ay dalawampu't isang taóng gulang nang maging hari ng Juda, at naghari siya sa Jerusalem sa loob ng labing-isang taon. Ang ina niya'y si Hamutal na anak ni Jeremias na taga-Libna. ¹⁹Tulad ng masamang halimbawa ni Jehoiakim, ginawa rin ni Zedekias ang mga bagay na hindi kalugud-lugod kay Yahweh.

²⁰Umabot^(H) na sa sukdulan ang galit ni Yahweh sa Jerusalem at Juda kaya ang mga ito'y ipinabihag niya sa mga kaaway.

Jehoiakim’s Rebellion and Death

24 During^(A) Jehoiakim’s reign,^(B) King Nebuchadnezzar^(C) of Babylon^(D) attacked.^(E) Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years, and then he turned and rebelled against him. ²The Lord sent Chaldean, Aramean,^(F) Moabite,^(G) and Ammonite raiders against Jehoiakim. He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord he had spoken through his servants the prophets.^(H) ³Indeed, this happened to Judah at the Lord’s command to remove them from his presence.^(I) It was because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all he had done,^(J) ⁴and also because of all the innocent blood he had shed. He had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood,^(K) and the Lord was not willing to forgive.

⁵The rest of the events of Jehoiakim’s reign, along with all his accomplishments, are written in the Historical Record of Judah’s Kings.^(L) ⁶Jehoiakim rested with his ancestors, and his son Jehoiachin became king in his place.^(M)

⁷Now the king of Egypt did not march out of his land again,^(N) for the king of Babylon took everything that had belonged to the king of Egypt,^(O) from the Brook of Egypt to the River Euphrates.^(P)

Judah’s King Jehoiachin

⁸Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned for three months in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Nehushta daughter of Elnathan; she was from Jerusalem.^(Q) ⁹He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight just as his father had done.

Deportations to Babylon

¹⁰At that time^(R) the servants of King Nebuchadnezzar^(S) of Babylon marched up to Jerusalem, and the city came under siege. ¹¹King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it. ¹²King Jehoiachin of Judah, along with his mother, his servants, his commanders, and his officials,^[a] surrendered to the king of Babylon.^(T)

So the king of Babylon took him captive in the eighth year of his reign. ¹³He also carried off from there all the treasures of the Lord’s temple and the treasures of the king’s palace, and he cut into pieces all the gold articles that King Solomon of Israel had made^(U) for the Lord’s sanctuary, just as the Lord had predicted.^(V) ¹⁴He deported all Jerusalem and all the commanders and all the best soldiers^(W) – ten thousand captives^(X) including all the craftsmen and metalsmiths.^(Y) Except for the poorest people of the land,^(Z) no one remained.

¹⁵Nebuchadnezzar deported Jehoiachin to Babylon. He took the king’s mother, the king’s wives, his officials, and the leading men of the land into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.^(AA) ¹⁶The king of Babylon brought captive into Babylon all seven thousand of the best soldiers and one thousand craftsmen and metalsmiths – all strong and fit for war. ¹⁷And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s^[b] uncle, king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah.^(AB)

Judah’s King Zedekiah

¹⁸Zedekiah^(AC) was twenty-one years old when he became king,^(AD) and he reigned for eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal^(AE) daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah. ¹⁹Zedekiah did what was evil in the Lord’s sight just as Jehoiakim had done.^(AF) ²⁰Because of the Lord’s anger,^(AG) it came to the point in Jerusalem and Judah that he finally banished them from his presence.^(AH) Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.^(AI)

24 During Jehoiakim’s reign, Nebuchadnezzar^(A) king of Babylon invaded^(B) the land, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. But then he turned against Nebuchadnezzar and rebelled.^(C) ²The Lord sent Babylonian,^[a]^(D) Aramean,^(E) Moabite and Ammonite raiders^(F) against him to destroy^(G) Judah, in accordance with the word of the Lord proclaimed by his servants the prophets.^(H) ³Surely these things happened to Judah according to the Lord’s command,^(I) in order to remove them from his presence^(J) because of the sins of Manasseh^(K) and all he had done, ⁴including the shedding of innocent blood.^(L) For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to forgive.^(M)

⁵As for the other events of Jehoiakim’s reign,^(N) and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? ⁶Jehoiakim rested^(O) with his ancestors. And Jehoiachin^(P) his son succeeded him as king.

⁷The king of Egypt^(Q) did not march out from his own country again, because the king of Babylon^(R) had taken all his territory, from the Wadi of Egypt to the Euphrates River.

Jehoiachin King of Judah^(S)

⁸Jehoiachin^(T) was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother’s name was Nehushta^(U) daughter of Elnathan; she was from Jerusalem. ⁹He did evil^(V) in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father had done.

¹⁰At that time the officers of Nebuchadnezzar^(W) king of Babylon advanced on Jerusalem and laid siege to it, ¹¹and Nebuchadnezzar himself came up to the city while his officers were besieging it. ¹²Jehoiachin king of Judah, his mother, his attendants, his nobles and his officials all surrendered^(X) to him.

In the eighth year of the reign of the king of Babylon, he took Jehoiachin prisoner. ¹³As the Lord had declared,^(Y) Nebuchadnezzar removed the treasures^(Z) from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace, and cut up the gold articles^(AA) that Solomon^(AB) king of Israel had made for the temple of the Lord. ¹⁴He carried all Jerusalem into exile:^(AC) all the officers and fighting men,^(AD) and all the skilled workers and artisans—a total of ten thousand. Only the poorest^(AE) people of the land were left.

¹⁵Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin^(AF) captive to Babylon. He also took from Jerusalem to Babylon the king’s mother,^(AG) his wives, his officials and the prominent people^(AH) of the land. ¹⁶The king of Babylon also deported to Babylon the entire force of seven thousand fighting men, strong and fit for war, and a thousand skilled workers and artisans.^(AI) ¹⁷He made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah.^(AJ)

Zedekiah King of Judah^(AK)

¹⁸Zedekiah^(AL) was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Hamutal^(AM) daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah. ¹⁹He did evil^(AN) in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim had done. ²⁰It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust^(AO) them from his presence.^(AP)

The Fall of Jerusalem^(AQ)^(AR)^(AS)

Now Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

Then he turned and rebelled against him. ²^(C)And the Lord sent against him raiding ^[a]bands of Chaldeans, bands of Syrians, bands of Moabites, and bands of the people of Ammon; He sent them against Judah to destroy it, ^(D)according to the word of the Lord which He had spoken by His servants the prophets. ³Surely at the commandment of the Lord this came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight ^(E)because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, ⁴^(F)and also because of the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, which the Lord would not pardon.

⁵Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? ⁶^(G)So Jehoiakim rested with his fathers. Then Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.

⁷And ^(H)the king of Egypt did not come out of his land anymore, for ^(I)the king of Babylon had taken all that belonged to the king of Egypt from the Brook of Egypt to the River Euphrates.

¹⁰^(L)At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city ^[c]was besieged. ¹¹And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, as his servants were besieging it. ¹²^(M)Then Jehoiachin king of Judah, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers went out to the king of Babylon; and the king of Babylon, ^(N)in the eighth year of his reign, took him prisoner.

The Captivity of Jerusalem

¹³^(O)And he carried out from there all the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house, and he ^(P)cut in pieces all the articles of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, ^(Q)as the Lord had said. ¹⁴Also ^(R)he carried into captivity all Jerusalem: all the captains and all the mighty men of valor, ^(S)ten thousand captives, and ^(T)all the craftsmen and smiths. None remained except ^(U)the poorest people of the land. ¹⁵And ^(V)he carried Jehoiachin captive to Babylon. The king’s mother, the king’s wives, his officers, and the mighty of the land he carried into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. ¹⁶^(W)All the valiant men, seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths, one thousand, all who were strong and fit for war, these the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

Zedekiah Reigns in Judah^(X)

¹⁷Then ^(Y)the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, ^(Z)Jehoiachin’s^[d] uncle, king in his place, and ^(AA)changed his name to Zedekiah.

¹⁸^(AB)Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was ^(AC)Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. ¹⁹^(AD)He also did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. ²⁰For because of the anger of the Lord this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, that He finally cast them out from His presence. ^(AE)Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
